Just a short one-shot I had stuck in my head and decided to write out. Review.

"Are you sure, Love?" Edward pressed his lips to my throat in a small, tender kiss. I nodded my head, knowing that if I spoke my voice would betray me and shake. He kissed my throat once more before he bit down.

I tossed in agony for three days. Emmett and Jasper held down my hands because I continuously tried to claw at the fire in my veins. At one point I turned pleading eyes on Edward. "Kill me! PLEASE!" He wrapped his arms around me and let a dry sob, before Carlisle made him leave.

He wouldn't let Edward back in until my heart beat for its last time and I took my last necessary breath. I had passed out and when I woke up for the last time, Edward was by my side.

With my awakening, I was greeted with a sharp dry ache in the back of my throat. I cleared my throat trying to ease the feeling. Edward turned my head so my eyes could meet his concerned ones. "You're thirsty. Carlisle, Emmett, and I will take you hunting."

"Why Emmett?" I questioned. I knew why Carlisle and Edward would be there, but I couldn't understand the presence of my big teddy bear of a brother. "You're stronger than Carlisle and I and we wouldn't be able to hold you if there were any…temptations."

I nodded, understanding that there could be hikers in the Alaskan forests during the summer. I wouldn't want to take a life, and Edward knew it.

We had taken Emmett's jeep to a secluded part of the wilderness and then ran deep into the woods. The running was exhilarating. Much better than riding on someone's back. I felt free when I was running. I felt like I could do anything.

When we determined we had reached a good spot for Carlisle to teach me to hunt, we sat quietly. Carlisle was the only one who spoke, and it was in the fast, hushed buzz I had never been able to understand as a human. I could here him perfectly well now with my sensitive vampire hearing. "Sit quietly and wait until can here the heartbeat and smell the blood of your prey, then pounce. Break its neck so it dies quickly. Your instincts will kick in, though, and it should all come natural."

I closed my eyes, and reached out with my heightened sense of smell and hearing. It wasn't too long before I heard the steady thump-thump of a heart. An instant later, I smelled a sweet scent that made the liquid of venom pool in my mouth. My eyes snapped open and saw the large rabbit. It would have been hidden in the brush to human eyes, but not to mine.

I lunged. Remembering what Carlisle had said, I snapped its neck before I sunk my aching teeth into the soft neck of my prey. I growled softly in content as its warm blood pulsed down my throat, easing the pain I had there when I had first awakened.

I had successfully completed my first hunt.
