Disclaimer: I don't own Fushigi Yugi or any of the characters
Takes place when Mitsukake, Chichiri, Tasuki and Chiriko were sleeping after they rescue Miaka from Suboshi.
Tasuki snored loudly. He was in a deep and peaceful sleep, as well as the others. All of them expect for one; Chiriko.
Chiriko was wide-awake and he was sitting next to the window, gazing out at the city of Xi-Lang.
"Uh…Chiriko? What the hell are yer doin' up?" a voice grumbled.
Chiriko looked towards the sleeping figures and found the ornery bandit half-awake staring back at him.
"I can't sleep," Chiriko confirmed.
Tasuki nodded and decided to go back to sleep but something kept nagging him. For some reason, Tasuki found himself walking quietly over to Chiriko and sat next to him. Dropping his "tough" guy act he asked, "What's ta matter?"
Chiriko sighed, "Its nothing, I was just thinking…"
"'Bout what?"
"Everything, I feel so useless…"
Tasuki raised an eyebrow, "Whatta mean?"
Chiriko shrugged, "You guys all got some skills, like healing, fighting, using your chi…and I'm just a know-it-all."
Tasuki placed a hand onto the kid's shoulder, "Come on, ya think that's not worth anything, jeez yer saved our asses back there with those psycho wimmen!"
Chiriko hid a small smile yet remained in disbelief, "Yeah, how?"
"If ya hadn't told us ta dress like woman, I wouldda have my eyes gouged out and would have been tortured by women for the rest of me life!"
"But when I lose my character I act like such a baby,"
Tasuki sighed, "Chiriko," The kid looked up at him, "Ya ain't useless, ya saved our butts sometimes and ya will later on…I think ya better use to us than Tamahome…he's runnin around kissing Miaka and all.."
Chiriko smiled, "Thanks Tasuki,"
"No prob," Tasuki stared at him, "If ya tell anyone 'bout this conversation ya ass will be fried!"
Chiriko laughed, "My lips are sealed."
The red-hair bandit patted the little kid's back, "Lets go back to sleep, I'm beat…"
Chiriko nodded and joined Tasuki back to their slumber. He felt that he gained a trust in Tasuki. There is more to the bandit than his brawly ways. He didn't know why but he felt as if he just had a conversation with an older brother.
