I don't own Trigun, so please don't sue me

This is a little story in Wolfwood's POV when Vash, Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly stay at a little house with a group of children in episode 22: Alternative

The scene is when Meryl is cooking dinner with two girls while Vash and Wolfwood watch from afar. This is hinting Vash x Meryl, so if you don't like that pair, then please do not continue reading. Hope you like it! R&R!

Secret Love

I could smell an aroma as it touched my senses, and I was sure he could smell it as well. We just stood back, and watched as the violet-haired insurance girl taught two girls how to cook.
"So if you cut it with a knife along the tendon at a right angle like this and sprinkle on a lot of pepper, it'll actually last a lot longer than you think, and guess what? It'll taste better too!"
"Really?"
It was strange, but her voice seemed to be much merrier than usual. When I looked over at him, I saw it…he was staring at her, watching her every move; he was smiling that genuine smile that he rarely had on. Vash the Stampede, has love gotten the better of you without you even knowing it?
"Women are a marvel, aren't they?" I remembered asking with a smile on my face as I turned to look at the three in front of us.
"That's for sure,"
There was something in his voice when he said that. I watched from the distance as he promptly ran up to the woman and the two girls asking,
"Hey there, what'cha cookin' guys!?"
"That's our secret until suppertime!" I could hear her say in a motherly voice as the girls agreed,
"Yeah!"
"Jeeze…how could you be so cold?"
I smiled at the thought of what looked like a family, two children, a mom, and a dad. Vash…he would make a great dad with his philosophies, and yet…he would unintentionally make his family a living target. How can he believe that there doesn't have to be a sacrifice…? I just don't understand him.
"That guy…he is nothing but trouble…"
