Basically, Ryan has schizophrenia and sees things in his daughters room. It's different.

Ryan lay his daughter in her crib, gently slipping a stuffed bear between her hands which were looped together by her tiny fingers. He kissed the top of her head and expressed a toothy grin inhabited with bliss. After watching his child At a peaceful state in mind, he silently walked across the wooden flooring to the young girls dresser and spotted a handcrafted music box with fairies and flowers painted upon it. Ryan had not sighted this before, so he knew his husband had placed it there for a gift to his daughter, forgetting to tell Ryan. Being a curious boy, he picked up the box, examining it carefully for a minute.

He found the handle and with a twist of his fingers, he spun it. The fragile items' lid opened before his very own to eyes to reveal what looked like clay faries twirling in a painted forest, but the whimsical chimes of the fairytale-esq music box appeared to seize the boy in an enchanting trance. A simple sound full of sorrow and bliss at the same time echoed through his head, leaving his mind to see things which weren't really there. He stepped away from the delicate trinket, and soon enough he noticed one by one, glowflies rising from the floor board, enlightening the room with a mystical feel. The boys eyes lit up with a spark of excitement before a cold shiver slowly traced its way down his spine, leaving him breathless. Ryan knew he was only imagining this because of his schizophrenia, but it still had pricked his curiosity. As more of these enchanting bugs arose from the floor, he stood still with his eyes full of bliss and watched them circle around him and flutter about in the child's room. He reached out to grab one, only to watch it vanish into a smokey form after his touch, the boy cocked his head to the side, a facial expression clearly full of confusion.

The pace of the heavenly music began to quicken, and more, and more glowflies appeared to fly out from the floorboards, quickly changing Ryan's facial expression from confused to amazed. A couple of the bugs had landed on his arm, blinking a faint light, softly buzzing to get his attention. His head suddenly turned to the creatures resting on his arm, making him grin widely. He paced about quietly in his daughters room, spying all the different places the glowflies are flying and landing. While walking around, Ryan bumped into the dresser, which caused the little box to stop playing. As the music died down, one by one, the glowflies slowly faded away into thin air. Knowing the moment was over, he frowned. It was one of those moments you wish could last forever, but this wasn't a childrens fairytale and he knew that.

So with a quick kiss to his sleeping daughter, he made his way out of the room to his own, where he lay down and drifted off to a different wonderland.
