AN: Hello! This is a bunch of short stories based on multiple pairings from Haikyuu! - of course, these pairings aren't exactly canon, but are heavily implied, so... ;-). I hope you guys enjoy this first short story: it's based on KageHina. All rights go to Haruichi Furudate, the writer and illustrator. Just borrowing these characters for a while.

Hinata loved the idea of Valentine's Day.

Of course, it started out with getting cheesy cards from his mother (which he still has in his heavily cluttered room), but then he grew older and she promised she'd stop – that didn't mean he didn't miss it, though. The notion of it was so awesome!

And now? Now he could share the day with someone. Someone special.

At least… That's what the card said.

Kageyama looked down at the card from Hinata which had been poorly taped to a box of chocolates. His upper lip curved in confusion, and a stranger would think it to be disgust – but really, he just wasn't sure what the hell this was.

To KAGEYAMA
I wanted to share this day with someone special
YOU

From,

Hinata

The gym was empty except for Kageyama, who'd walked in and found the chocolates and card lying near the cart of balls, and out of curiosity he picked it up.

He didn't think it would be directly addressed to him.

It was then that Hinata's bubbly presence graced the gym as he jumped in excitedly, clearly happy to see that Kageyama had received his gift and card. "KAGEYAMA!"

Kageyama was taken by surprise – his response, of course, was an unsettled grunt as he turned on his feet and stared down at the ever joyous Hinata. "Happy Valentine's Day!" Hinata exclaimed. Kageyama was stone faced.

What was he supposed to do?

His fingers wrapped around the box of chocolates tighter as he saw the warmth in Hinata's eyes; even something inside him curled pleasantly.

A slight heat went over Kageyama's cheeks as he said, "Th-thank you. I don't have anything for you, though."

Hinata shook his head, cheesing. "That doesn't matter!"

Out of nowhere Tanaka suddenly appeared, roaring with laughter. "HA-HA! KAGEYAMA, YOU TOO? HINATA, WHAT A THOUGHTFUL PERSON YOU ARE."

Kageyama was utterly confused once more.

The gym started filling in, and he saw that each. And every. Member had a box of chocolates in their hand; a card held between their fingers in the other.

"I don't understand."

Tanaka and Noya both came forward, chests puffed out as they stood on either side of Hinata with one of their arms thrown around him. "Ourconsiderate kouhai here brought Valentine's Day to us!" Kageyama's face went blank when the pair of them got overly emotional while Hinata simply got driven even more by the appreciation of his senpais.

… "Wait, so… You got something for everyone?" Kageyama asked, trying to clear his perplexed state on his own since no one else would.

"Mhm!" Hinata's head bopped up and down twice.

Kageyama couldn't believe that for a moment there, he thought–

"Chocolates later!" Daichi's resonant voice suddenly called out. "Drills first. We need to practice; other things can be enjoyed after. And also, thank you Hinata." Everyone's thank yous (Tanaka and Noya's were the loudest and most emotional) echoed through the gym until all broke into a run.

But before Hinata did, he glanced at Kageyama. "I meant what I said in the card, you know."

Aaand once more, Kageyama was left speechless.

Someone special.

Hinata had already began his sprint, and it took around fifteen seconds for everything to register before Kageyama yelled:

"Oi, dumbass Hinata! Don't cheat!"

Even as he caught up with him, that same pleasant, unfamiliar feeling curled in him once more.

Someone special?

Hinata was to him too.

Even if he wouldn't admit it in a thousand years.
