"Stop right there!" yelled a voice in the forest. You were travelling through the forest, trying to find your lost sister, Elise. The voice came from a kitsune soldier, and everything between then and now was blurry. When you woke up, you found yourself next to a kitsune. You screamed and crab-walked away. It said,

"Hey, don't leave!" It almost sounded like it was friendly. You composed yourself, and sat down, hugging your knees, your face buried in your thighs.

"Why are you hiding? I'm not trying to hurt you!" It said. It sounded like a male. You stood up, walked away, and sat back down.

"Why are you being so nice to me? I know you kitsune don't like intruders. What makes my case different?" you asked.

"I proposed that because you were alone, we could kidnap you, take your weapons, and talk it out."

"Oh. Ok then. I came here because my sister Elise came through here, and I needed to find her."

"Does she have blonde hair and long curls?"

"Yes!"

"Well, we have her too." After you heard that, you thought things would kind of let up. You looked into his trusting eyes.

"Is something bothering you? Why are you staring at me?"

"Nothing! (Oh, this has gone wrong... very, very wrong)" You thought. "What's your name?"

"Kaden! I'm the chief of the kitsune tribe. What's your name?"

"Corrin. Nice to meet you, Kaden." You saw his tail started wagging rapidly. Why? He couldn't have... liked you...could he?

"I um... hehe... I'm going to leave you to your own devices and get Elise ready for... AAAAAAH!" He screamed. A faceless burst through the door, throwing him down next to you. You roundhouse kicked it in the face, breaking its neck. You stared down at it, surprised at what you did, and what drove you to do it. Kaden sat silently behind you, in awe.

"That was amazing, Corrin! I- er.. nothing." His tail was wagging even faster. It looked as if it could move a boat.

"Th-thank you." you replied. You were about to say something else, when another kitsune burst through the door and grabbed you, covering your mouth.

"Are you ok, chief?"

"Let her go!" He said that with such violence, it sounded... protective. He ran towards the kitsune soldier and grabbed their arm, throwing it off your mouth and into the door frame. He grabbed you by your shoulders.

"Are you ok!? U-oh, sorry... I..."

"It's ok, don't worry about it. I'm ok, I have a bruise right here, above my chin."

"Oh, let me see! Are you ok?" He looked, and his tail drooped.

"It's fine. I have a question. Why did you act with such haste when the soldier grabbed me?"

"I could ask something similar of you. What gave you the ability to break the faceless' neck with a kick?" There was a long silence, where you stared into each other's eyes. After a while, you both said in unison;

"Love."

You blushed and looked away, turning back with a smile after a moment.

"Speaking of which, after I talk with the rest of the kitsune, would you like me to release Elise? Heh, that rhymed."

"Yes. Kaden?"

"Yes?"

"...Thank you."

"No problem. Hey, I have an itch behind my ear and I can't reach it. Can you scratch it for me?"

"Sure!"
