"Miko?! Miiiiikoooo!" my father blared out from the other side of the house. I opened an eye slightly and stretched, groaning a bit. I grabbed at bedpost, slowly pulling myself up and out of bed.
I trudged across the house still half asleep, and momentarily reached his room. "Yes, Ray?" I said sleepily, with my eyes half closed. "Damn, what took you so long girl? You should've known that your mama would need you to care for her!" he barked. "Y-yes, sir I-" I began. "I don't CARE what kind of half-ass excuses you HAVE, Miko.it's all your fault that she's sick anyhow," Ray interrupted.
I bit my bottom lip, fighting back the moisture in my eyes. "Yes sir." I replied shakily as he got up to leave the room. "Good," he retorted. As he walked passed me, I stared downward shamefully, not able to fight back the tears of guilt any longer. "Stupid girl." he spat as he pushed me into the dresser. Being as weary as I was, I came down with a crash, only to hear Ray snickering in the next room.
I sighed and picked myself up, and made my way to my mother's bed. I gazed at her for what seemed like hours. She looked so peaceful in her slumber.always dreaming. She was beautiful; with her long, ebony hair flowing down passed her shoulders. Her soft features made her seem somewhat angelic as she lay there bathing in the morning light.
Yes.it indeed was my fault that she was terribly sick. This is what Ray has told me since I can remember. When she gave birth to me, their only child, my mother became gravely ill. She has been going in and out of a coma the passed 14 years; the doctors didn't expect her to live 6 months after my birth. If I wasn't born, none of this would've happened.
I sat there beside my mother gazing at her beauty for a few minutes longer, in case she might wake up and need something. Alas, she did not wake.I have no memory whatsoever of my mother ever being awake. But that's okay.I smiled to myself, her being alive and with me keeps me happy enough.
My happiness was not to last.
I treated today like any other Tuesday. After spending the first few hours of morning with my mother, I went to get dressed for school. I left for school a few minutes early, for fear of what Ray might do next.
Well, that's it.the first chapter. Please, Please review it for me and tell me what you think! Or if you have any suggestions!
