Hi guys! My grammar sucks, so please give me some constructive criticism and review!
Okay, maybe telling the kids that they were going on a vacation right after they had snowcones was not the best idea. It was late May when Mr. Penderwick and Iantha gathered the rowdy children around the dinner table after dessert.
See, the only reason they were going on this trip was because Mr. Penderwick and Iantha had gotten a phone call a week ago about going on a 5 month trip to Europe to visit the new astrophysics museum they planned to put there.
Well by now you are probably just flat out confused. Now see, Mr. Penderwick and Iantha aren't going on the vacation with them, quite far from it actually. Well, with Rosalind turning 17, and Skye and Jane not far behind with ages 16 and 15, the parents decided they were old enough to take care of themselves plus Batty and Ben for a few weeks.
If Mr. Penderwick could have it his way, Aunt Claire would go with them all days of the vacation. But unfortunately, Aunt Claire only had enough vacation saved up for 2 months, so she had to come late on in the vacation.
"Children, children settle down!" Even though Iantha had successfully gotten the children in their seats, she couldn't keep them from bouncing up and down. All except for Rosalind.
"I don't get it, daddy. Why are we here? And more importantly, why do you look so constipated?" Skye blurted out, rightfully receiving a kick to the ankle by Rosalind.
Mr. Penderwick blushed profusely, then cleared his throat. "Ladies and Ben, you guys are going on a vacation-" Before Mr. Pen could even get out his full sentence, the house seemed to erupt with joy and happiness. If Batty couldn't keep still before, she definitely couldn't now.
"Hey! I'm not finished. A very important detail is Iantha and I will not be going. Before you guys break out sobbing, we have a very important business trip we have to take. As much as we would love to come with you, we unfortunately can't."
Thinking back to the events at Point Mouette, Skye exploded before she could stop herself. "What about Jeffery! Can he come?" Just realizing how desperate and eager she sounded, Skye scowled and tried to sink further into the wooden chair.
Iantha looked at the children, trying to read their facial expressions.
"Daddy, can I bring Hound?" Batty asked, squeezing the dog around the middle.
"Of course, Battykins!" He replied, a grin on his face.
Jane, who had not said anything, looked up from her notebook.
"When do we leave?"
