Written for the All You Need Is Love Challenge (puppy love: PansyLuna)

Words

Vane. Egotistic. Self-centred.

So many words were used to describe Pansy Parkinson throughout her seven years of Hogwarts; but she didn't let those words bother her, because truthfully, those words didn't bother her. They meant nothing. These were people below her; Mudbloods, Halfbloods. What did their opinions matter?

When Pansy looked in the mirror she didn't see what the others saw. She didn't see an ugly face, or pug-like features. What she saw was a bold girl who wore the Slytherin green with pride. She saw someone who deserved the recognition by all those below her, and someone who was superior to half of those around her.

She hung on to Draco Malfoy because she thought he needed her. He was a bully, but a weak one, scared of the Mudblood Granger. She had acquaintances such as Greengrass and Bulstrode because they were Pureblood.

Truthfully, they all needed her. Pansy came from good, strong, pure Parkinson blood. They all needed her to understand their place in the world.

Loony. Crazy. Weird.

Those were the words used to describe Luna Lovegood, and they affected her more than she let on. She hurt when they called her loony, and cried when they said she was weird. She suffered.

Luna was a quiet girl, who kept mostly to herself. She had few friends, talked to even less, and was even considered strange by those Hufflepuff girls, who were meant to accept everyone.

Her years at Hogwarts were mostly lonely. Her days were spent in the library with a book or homework. She didn't visit Hogsmeade, or enjoy the sun outside on the weekend. She merely sat in the common room and kept quiet.

It was how everyone liked it.

Strong. Powerful. Fulfilling.

There were only three words that described their relationship. The bold, egotistic Slytherin and the quiet, crazy Ravenclaw.

They met in the corridors one day when Pansy had huffed past the crying girl, shouting 'loony' as she ran off. Luna had stood up to the bully that day and insisted she wasn't loony. Pansy had been surprised someone dared to argue with her.

It was unusual to fall for someone who had made fun of you once; or maybe it wasn't. Luna wasn't sure what she saw in the girl, but she certainly didn't see what others saw.

Their kisses were gentle, her touch was soft. Her skin tingled just by her presence. How had she fallen so hard?

For Pansy, it made sense that she fall for the girl. After all, she was Pureblood, and when she actually got to know Luna, she wasn't all that crazy after all. Yes, she had interesting ideas that Pansy would sometimes laugh at, but she was smart, and in a way, as conceited as Pansy felt.

"Don't listen to the others," Luna whispered, taking the girl's hand in her own. "I think you're beautiful."

Pansy smiled at the compliment, drawing her lips close to Luna's ear. "I know," she teased. "And you're not as crazy as they say you are."

Luna blushed.

Others thought they were weird – insane – for having fell for one another, but they both ignored them. For Pansy, it was easy, because she didn't care. For Luna, it became easier, because she had someone who loved her.

Words meant little when they were together, the taunts even less. It felt right, what they were doing, and no one could tell them otherwise.

"I love you, my crazy girl," Pansy chuckled as she brought lips to Luna's.

"And I love you, my conceited friend." Luna responded to the kiss and smiled.

For once, those words were everything.

Never done this pairing before, but I enjoyed writing it, actually (not that I truly ship it or anything). I just thought it was interesting, especially with the egotist prompt involved. Would love to hear your thoughts!
