The Dream

As the pavement below started to rise in heat I finally decided to look up. The only thing I wanted more than anything was to escape this horrid nightmare. It seemed so sudden, the change of dreams, almost as if my last dream of the perfect one triggered a part of my mind. As I raised my head I was confronted by the smell of putrid and unrecognizable smell. I watched as the skin melted and oozed down the bodies of the people surrounding me, but I knew that this wasn't the only place being affected. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" was the only thing I can hear from the bodies lying before me, with their skin starting to completely fall off. All you could see was burnt muscle and little microscopic pieces of skin trying to dodge the raging fire.

It wasn't only the people, o no; it was more, the animals, buildings, cars. Everything. "Boom!" It was unmistakable. The building behind had just crumbled, making the people already dying suffer more than what they needed. How could I be the one causing this, all this apocalyptic mayhem. The sounds of more buildings tumbling down became louder as the explosion of cars joined to make a deathly chorus. "You see, this is your job. This is why you're reborn, why you exist. The time is almost here. I pity you; usually this would've happened when you already knew why you're here, when you are older. But the time has come, there's no turning back."

The voice seemed to sink inside my head like a sweet melody that you never forget. The screaming had stopped, all the bodies just laid there unmoving. Death had finally taken them away from what I have caused. "WWHHYY??" I screamed but everything just sounded like a mumble of words as my crying had taken over me. The tears wouldn't stop, they, like the people, wanted to get away from me, the freak. A felt my shoes get hotter as the fire went for me. Slowly the fire consumed me, digging its intense flames through my body. I laid down, not even feeling the sting of the fire as it devoured my skin with no mercy. I wanted to die; living was one thing that I never wanted to experience again.

The explosion and roars of cars and building being destroyed could still be heard, but after that there would be nothing. Earth would just be another rock in space waiting to be reborn just like the apocalypse. At last the sound of my alarmed saved me from my nightmare. How I would love this alarm for saving me. Just like in my dream the tears started to uncontrollably fall from my eyes like a bad storm. At last I was away from what was yet to come.
