Snowflakes drizzled down from the grey clouds above, coating Genkai's forest in a blanket of white snow. Even the tips of the trees were frozen over, the bark glazed over in ice.

Botan watched it all from behind the bedroom window, grinning girlishly, bouncing on the mattress of her shared bed.

She simply couldn't contain her overflowing excitement.

"Hiei, Hiei, look, it's snowing!"

The fire-demon rolled onto his side. "I don't care."

"But it's so pretty."

"Hn."

Botan pouted, tugging on her mate's bare arm.

"Let me sleep, woman."

"Won't you at least look?"

Hiei hissed a few curses under his breath, but slowly sat up, the covered sliding off his body. Botan pulled his arm, moving him closer to the window.

Hiei blinked. "I fail to see what excites you so much."

"Hiei, the forest looks magnificent. Like a winter wonderland!"

"Hn." He rolled his eyes and got back under the covers, intent on getting a few more hours of sleep in before the detective came barreling through the door, complaining about their next case.

"Your such a party pooper."

"Yet you choose to stay with me."

Botan giggled. "It's one of our many mysteries."

Hiei grumbled something out, but his words came out slurred. It reminded the ferry-girl of times when he'd get too drunk on Ogre Killer and she had to drag him back to their hotel room.

The snow continued to fall, and Botan continued to watch, smiling softly to herself when she felt Hiei's warm fingers tracing shapes onto her exposed tights.
