Effy on Freddie

She was bloody Effy Stonem. Inscrutable, undeniable attractive, and an enigma to all around her. She was practically otherworldly. He was just a boy and a nice boy at that, not her type at all. She preferred Cook, with Cook everything was clear, everything was simple. They had casual sex when she felt like it, simple as that. With Freddie on the other hand everything was a big blur. She liked, no if she truly thought about it she loved him, but really who wants to think when you can get high? So that's what she did, she went crazy with parties and pills, splif and alcohol. She thought she didn't care but really she cared too much. She wasn't happy, she was merely floating through existence. The only thing that marred her existence was the memory of that day at the water park and his words, his lips on hers. Then the fateful day arrived. She saw them together, caught them actually, furiously making out in broom closet. She pretended everything was fine, pretended that it didn't feel as though clichéd as it is, her heart had been wrenched out and stomped on the floor. She pretended as she always did that she was above it all she was flying high as a kite, nothing and no one would pull her down. No one but Naomi noticed but didn't comment, she had other Emily shaped things on her mind. Effy could and would just have to deal until she woke from her drug induced coma and was ready to feel.

Freddie on Effy

Freddie had his own troubles. His mother was dead, his sister was depressed and his father hardly spoke to him. She was a mystery that he wanted to solve. She was damaged, but he was willing to mend her. He took the leap that she was unwilling to make. He loved her but she was too afraid of breaking him to let herself love him back. And then there was Cook. Cook, his ex-best friend, ex-musketeer, had slept with her. It couldn't be love, not for Cook at least, but what about her, how did she feel. He was too hurt to ponder. Then there was that kiss. That had meant something, and then she went back to Cook. Cook yet again. Then he went to Katie. He didn't quite know how it had happened. He could see, or at least he hoped, she was upset. When she came to her senses he would be there, for now there was Katie.
