The Last Breath
They knew this day would eventually come⦠Unlike the rest of them, Jacob was not truly immortal. While constant phasing kept Jacob from aging, he still aged over the centuries. As expected, Nessie was beside herself. He was her lover and best friend, but most of all he was family to them all. Even though nature dictated them to be arch enemies, he was everything but.
Sadly, this would not be their first lost. Nessie was able to have children, and they had many over the years. Some carried only the human gene and live a human life span, but others carried either the werewolf or the vampire gene. There was some thought about changing Jacob, but it was pretty unanimous that was unwanted.
Each of their children and the all the Cullens had said their tearful goodbyes, and now only Jacob and Nessie remained in their little cabin in the woods. Most people thought Nessie was some gold-digger of a young wife, and they let them think that. It was just easier that way.
Jacob held his Nessie in arms in their vast bed while reminiscing of their years. He whispered promises he wanted her to keep. He asked of her to keep living, and not ask the Romanians to kill her, as Edward tried with the Volutri many years ago. The Romanians were the new Volutri, after the Volutri's attempt to take Nessie when she became full grown.
The biggest promise he asked of her, was to love again, someday; because eternity is simply just too long to live without love, but he joking added for her to please never fall for Nahuel.
As the mood became lighter, Jacob kissed her on her head, and stared into her eyes. He never forgot the first time she said she loved him, and even more the first time they made love. She leaned to him and pecked him on the lips. As peck became a deeper and deeper kiss, their hands began to roam grasping and holding tight each other as they relived their first time, and murmured their love to each other between their gasps for air. After they were done, he held her tight in silence knowing their time was short.
They continued to talk and make love throughout the night, and as the sun rose and shined past the curtains onto Nessie, she glistened from head to toe in a spectacular fashion. Jacob said to her, "You look like an angel, my love. I love you, and thank you for all you have given me," and with that he closed his and laid his head on her shoulder with her whispering in return, "I love you, Jacob," as he sighed his last breath with contentedness.
A/N: Thank you everyone for reading. Positive criticism is always appreciated. If there is enough interest, I may write either a sequel or a continuation of this story.
