Cozy

by the Legendary Armor

Now that spring had arrived and they were nearing Crimea in their march, and probably the end of the war, the air always seemed to make one drowsy. It was so warm and inviting, whispering to the people for a quick, simple nap...

Certainly more soldiers had begun indulging in extra rest in their downtime--and to Haar's slight surprise, Jill was no exception. He'd gone to her tent to tell her Reyson was singing a nice song for the army, but when he called her name gently and opened her tent flap, he was greeted with the sight of the young wyvern rider lying on her bedroll, fast asleep.

She looked... nice, that way. Not that she wasn't anyway, but... Usually, her fair face was etched with worry and fear, with a dark burden and guilt that Haar was beginning to think she would never be rid of. Yet, now, in her sleep... she seemed so peaceful, and the rays of sunlight on the canvas tent gave her skin a warm brown glow. The young woman smiled slightly--perhaps she was having a nice dream, for once. The sight reminded him so swiftly of his own dreams...

Yawning quietly, he blinked slowly as his familiar fatigue began to settle upon him. Certainly normal for him--the spring air was just an excuse; hell, it probably made it worse. Mm... yes, he was very tired. And his own tent... well, it wasn't far; right next to Jill's, actually, but why waste time and energy walking there? The rationalization rang out as just that in his mind--but he'd made so many throughout the years that it hardly even mattered anymore.

Stretching, he walked forward, kneeling next to the sleeping girl before stretching out right next to her on the bedroll. It was warm, and comfortable... not to mention heartwarming to be so close to her. Lazily he draped an arm over her waist, drifting off to slumber with a smile on his tanned face.

It was a peaceful slumber, indeed.
