Do you ever just see someone and think 'wow'. You don't even have to know them, you just walk by them and they smile and, for some odd reason, it lights you up inside. And when you do know them, you can't stop thinking about them. You could be in the OR, saving a baby from death, or just walking home one night, and all you can think about is them.
I didn't get that feeling very often before, especially not about my soon-to-be husband, but now I'm constantly thinking about her. The way she laughs, and the way she makes me laugh. Her hair, even though it's almost always a mess, but I just want to run my fingers through it anyway. And the way she-
"Doctor Katz!" Alex called from behind me, slightly jogging even after I specifically told her not to. I stopped walking and turned around to meet the flushed woman with one hand holding papers and the other on her stomach.
"Yes ?" I said in my usual seriousness.
"They need you in OR three now! A pregnant woman was hit by a car" she handed me the papers as I followed her to the elevator.
"You were good in there" she said, washing her hands in the sink next to me. "The baby wouldn't have made it if you hadn't of stepped in"
"Thanks, you did good too" I said with a smirk "You're becoming a better doctor everyday"
"My oh my , was that a compliment?" Maggie said in a sarcastic tone, drying her hands and making a shocked face at me.
"Oh don't be so dramatic, I was merely stating that you have an amazing teacher" I said, raising my eyebrows as we walked out into the hallway. She laughed that melodic laugh, and I had to laugh too. Her hand was brushing against me as we walked and it sent shivers down my back. "So.. Would you like to grab some coffee?" I asked quietly
She smiled, looking at me with those cheerful eyes "I'd love to"
We got in the elevator, standing very close to one another, both of us with smiles plastered on our faces. I didn't want to look at her, but how could I not. God she was beautiful. Not many people can pull off scrubs, but oh how she can. She caught me looking at her of course, and she smirked, like she knew I was checking her out. We stared at each other for a few seconds before I couldn't resist myself any longer.
I pushed her back onto the wall of the elevator and pulled her face down with my hand so our mouths could meet. Her lips tasted like peppermint from the lip gloss she always wears, and I loved it. It was like our mouths fit perfectly together, and I smiled as I ended the short kiss. I stepped back from her and walked out of the elevator as the doors opened. She followed suit and we walked over to the counter. I ordered and paid for both our coffees and a chocolate chip muffin to split with her. We went to a table and sat across from each other, smiling like the idiots we were. She started talking about some patient we were going to do a surgery on, and I tried my best to listen, which was hard when all I could think of was her lips. Yeah, I could get used to her lips.
