There he stood, at the mouth of the cave. The lone figure was burdened down by the sword and shield he carried on his back. His face could not been seen for it was covered by the helm of his armour. His armour, once an heirloom, was now nothing more than a hunk of steel covered in dents and dirt. Within the Knight's armour, the echo of his exhilarating hear beat was all that could be heard. Behind him the sky was orange, like a bonfire set ablaze. Finally as if someone else was there the knight spoke "I… I can't do this, I just can't. I have seen what the beast with in this cave can do and what he does. The very thought of him terrifies me to the core." He paused as if letting another person speak. He then began once more "For God's sake I'm a knight god dammit, I'm supposed to have a will of steel, not meant to fear anything! Yet, I do, I fear this creature and fear that I will die trying to accomplish my task"

"Maybe I should head back, tell them I failed, because I was a coward. I can't though; I would shame my whole family." The knight, who was now just walking circles stopped, finally coming to a final decision. "If I am going to be a coward either way, I'd rather die than live the life as one." The knight then turned around facing the darkest of caves, with the orange sky behind him. He then drew his sword and shield from his back, let out one final sigh, and entered the darkness for one last time. I'd like to say he was victorious over the beast but, he wasn't. He died from the thing he feared, and the last he thing thought before breathing his last breath, was that he died a coward, for fearing the very thing that killed him.
