An Unexpected Friend
Chapter 1- Prologue
Hippogriffs are proud creatures. They are easily offended, and you never want to insult a hippogriff or that may be the last thing you do. But they are also gallant.
Hopefully all of my readers have read or watched the third Harry Potter, so you, who have read/seen it, will know what a hippogriff is. For you few who do not, I shall paint you a picture of the most bizarre creature you have ever seen.
They have bodies, hind legs, and tails of horses, yet the front legs, wings, and heads of what seem to be giant eagles, with cruel, steel-colored beaks and large, brilliantly orange eyes. The talons on their front legs are half a foot long and look deadly. their gleaming coats, changing from feather to hair, each a different color.
Try to imagine having this creature be your only friend...
Chapter 2- The Letter pt 1
Sarah Johnson, who had an average life, average parents who had average jobs and lived in an average house, was in the middle of having her average 11th birthday. But Sarah wanted something exciting to happen, she was hoping to find that excitement in her presents.
"Mum, can I open my presents now?" Sarah asked, green eyes shining in anticipation and her brown hair bobbing up and down in its ponytail.
"What a waste, they ask for such a big piece and don't eat half of it," Claire Johnson mumbled while ridding the dining table of half full plate of cake, "go ask your father, dear." As Sarah walked hurriedly toward her father, Edmund Johnson, he lowered the newspaper he was reading and gave her a questioning look.
"Dad," Sarah said in an innocent voice, "can I open my presents?"
"What did your mother say?"
"She said to ask you."
"Well I guess you can then."
Sarah said a quick "thanks," and ran of toward the pile of brightly wrapped presents. Half an hour and lots of gift wrap later, Sarah had finished opening her last present. When all the mess was cleaned and things put away, Sarah saw her dad get up, go to his study, and come back with a tan envelope in his hand. " Its best to do this sooner than later, here goes," Her father said as he sat in an armchair, " Sarah, honey, come here. There's something I need to show you." Glancing at the letter in her fathers hand, Sarah cautiously walked towards him.
