Her heart was broken, he knew that. Or she assumed that he knew that.
He stood in the rain in front of her house wanting to hold her and make her feel better, but that damn boy ruined it.
"He ruined me." She would tell him as she sipped on her strawberry smoothie. "I'm done with boys, they don't care about us, so why should I care about them? I'll be alone with my dogs."
His heart ached with agony hearing those words come out of her mouth. It was a lie, he knew that she was only doing that to protect her heart. But did he blame her? Absolutely not, once you fall to pieces, it's hard to bring yourself back together.
The boy who broke her, went dark on her when all she needed was the world. She gave him the world, but he didn't want it or even thought about giving it to her. So, she was done giving the world away to someone who didn't care.
Her perspective of love changed completely.
She shook her head as she leaned back in her chair, "It's so easy to say "I love you" to someone, but people are saying it like hello's. I won't believe someone when they actually mean it. That's if I want to find love again."
Who wants to start all over? Tell another person all their secrets, tell them who they truly are only for them to leave them. Especially when they say when they weren't going to leave, believing people nowadays is so hard.
Everybody fears fallout, but who knew falling out of love would be this difficult.
"I'll feel bad for the next girl who falls for him. She will only be a fool, a fool that won't know what's coming."
That was the last straw. To hear her talk about this hurt him. He wanted her and she needed someone like him, but she won't even consider him when she is broken like this. But maybe he will be the one to change her heart.
And he knew exactly what he had to do.
He ran to the nearest flower shop and picked up the prettiest rose and then to a convenience store to buy her favorite type of candy.
He knew he was being selfish, but he couldn't stand seeing her throw her love life away just because she wasn't appreciated like she needed to be.
Back to her house, he finally had the courage to walk up to her front door and ring the doorbell. He heard footsteps and when the door opened he saw a slight smile on her face.
"I'm sorry it's just one rose, but I hope this will do." Trunks mumbled as she stared at him. He couldn't exact read what she was thinking, which wounded him deeply. Was it all a mistake?
Before he could blink again, a true smile came across her face as she walked over to him and gave him a hug. He missed that smile, he hasn't seen her smile like that in months, so he was glad to see it again.
"Thank you." Marron whispered into his ear that sent chills down his spine. She released him from their hug and accepted the rose and candy that he bought her.
And then she thought to herself, "Maybe falling to pieces wasn't such a bad thing."
