A/N: Alright, if some of you don't know, The Last Silk Dress was written by Ann Rinaldi. She's not a very popular author, I think, but her books are AMAZING to read! She's one of my favorite authors. So this short story is taken from her book. I hope you like it. As always, please review!
Timothy had just asked if I wanted to live with his family up north. I'd agreed.
"Come here," I told him, grabbing his hand and pulling him outside into the cool night. My night gown swished around my legs.
"Susan, where are you taking me?"
My eyes twinkled. "Somewhere special."
We ran across the street and into the woods. I followed the river until we came to a clearing. Moonlight spilled into the opening, lighting it up like a ballroom.
We walked into the clearing.
"Wow, this is beautiful," Tim said, taking my petite hands in his strong ones. "And so are you."
I smiled.
He drew me close. Mother would be furious if she saw me now.
I batted my eyelashes.
"Kiss me," I said, wrapping my arms around him. His lips found mine and he kissed me.
"I love you, Susan," Tim said. He drew back. How I hated to end this so soon. "Marry me. I love you," he said getting down on one knee.
"Oh, I'll marry you two thousand times if I could! Yes!" I replied, throwing my arms around him.
He fell to the ground, taking me with him. "Kiss me," he whispered.
I kissed him.
Tim rolled over onto his back. I heard him sigh. "Look at those beautiful stars. It's like they're shining just for us."
I snuggled closer to him and rested my hand on his chest. "Yes, I think they are."
"Stars, marry us. Right now," he said, looking up.
They blinked in reply.
"Hey, I think they've married us!" I blurted, eager for him to hold me once more.
"Yes, I'll say, we're married now," he turned to his side to look at me. Sparkles gleamed in his eyes. I knew what he was thinking.
He pulled me on top of him. I let his lips find mine, returning them with sweeter kisses each time.
I felt his warmth radiate into me. I wanted him and I wanted all of him right now.
He started to get up.
"Wait, just one more kiss," I said, pulling him next to me.
"Okay," he replied.
We kissed. Each one more intense than the last. I was lost in his arms. Nothing else mattered. Not even rules about waiting until a proper marriage.
I didn't know when we stopped. I woke next to him, my head resting on his chest. The night was still dark.
