"Just 5 minutes, no one will know!"
Grace can hear an all too familiar voice from what seems like miles away. Rich. Oh please come get me out of here Rich! Grace feels almost as if she's been in a strange dream for what feels like eternity.
She tries to remember back to how she got to this dream-like state. All she can remember is being in the car with Matty and Liv, begging him to slow down, and before she knew it, she felt like she was flying. Not in the good, free, way, like she had standing in the back of the truck when her and Rich had just arrived in Morocco, but in a frightening, uncontrollable, way.
At first, everything was black. Then, eventually, she started being able to hear more and more around her. Now, she can hear everything going on in the real world around her, that's how she found out she was in a coma. She's heard Rich and all of her friends try to come and visit her numerous times a week, all to be turned down in regards to her father. She longed to see Rich, touch Rich, and kiss Rich, now, more than ever.
She tries to listen closely to what the nurse says back to Rich. "I'm sorry Richard. It's against the Bloods' rules to let you in to see her." Grace's heart drops. "Fine, but can you give her this for me? Tell her I tried my best, and tell her Alo helped me with it because he can do computer shit with his playstation." Grace hears the crinkle of cellophane. "Okay Richard." The nurse answers. "And tell her you're a mean, old, cat lady who probably never get's laid." When Grace heard that she wanted to laugh, but she couldn't. Oh how she missed laughing, and smiling. She hears the creak of a chair and the clunk of shoes againt the tile as Rich gets up to leave. Wait, Rich! Come back! Come save me! Grace wanted to jump up and run after Rich. Suddenly, she hears the door slowly swing open, and the slight hum of her nurse, whom she doesn't quite know the name of... Paula? Pam? "That boyfriend of yours is great, you did a good job picking him out, Gracie. Let's listen to what he brought you." Listen? Then Grace hears the thump of Rich's bass guitar and an all too familiar melody start to play. She could hear her voice singing... Shades of wine, love keeps dancing through my mind, no I can't escape this time. All because of you. Suddenly, Grace feels her eyes start twitching, then fly open. She was awake! Her arm is hooked to an IV and she's dressed in a paper hospital gown. She didn't even want to imagine what her face looked like, or her hair. "Where's my boyfriend?" Grace demanded. The nurse swung around, shocked. "Y-you're awake! Grace! You're awake! I can't believe it!" Grace smiled faintly, glancing towards the door. The nurse, who's name Grace now saw to be as Pauline, rushed out the door and ran down the hallway. A few minutes later, she heard the noise of Rich's shoes against the tile. Then, he was in the doorway of her hospital room. "G-grace?" He ran forward and hugged her as tightly as he ever had. "I've missed you so much." Grace whispered, feeling Rich's body shaking against hers. She looked up at him and saw tears streaming down his cheeks. "I thought I had lost you forever." He choked out, in between sobs. "Well, I'm here now, and that's all that matters." She smiled, leaning up to kiss his lips. It wasn't until then, that she realized the music was still playing. Life is like a ferris wheel, all because of you.
