A huge thank you to Ashleyder1! Without her help I wouldn't have put the ideas together!
True stared out her bedroom window, doing her best to ignore her stinging backside as she thought about her day and how it all went wrong. She should have known the day was going to go to hell the minute she sat down for breakfast and had a bowl of porridge placed in front of her. She detested the stuff and since Vin and Lauren married she didn't have to eat it often as Lauren didn't much care for it either. She didn't need to look up to know Lauren wasn't home and frowned down at the sludge in her bowl. She was 13 for christs sake! Certaintly old enough to decide if she wanted to eat breakfast! Vin slapped her leg lightly in warning so she ate just enough to make him happy and rushed out the door before he changed his mind and made her eat it all.
She took her time walking to the school house and was glad she did or she would have missed the conversation she overheard. She couldn't believe Creed said what he did! And he said it out loud to a bunch of his friends!
She blamed Vin and Chris for it all! If they didn't make her wear a dress to church each week, the changes her body was going through would not be so noticible. She hid everything just fine under her overalls but what was she supposed to do with a dress? Even the modest cut and length didn't help! She was doomed! Damn them!
Ok maybe it wasn't all their fault. Maybe if she didn't always hide stuff in her pockets so she could play little pranks during Josiah's boring sermons she would still be able to wear overalls. Maybe if she didn't try something with firecrackers and set the pew on fire they would have left her alone. Of course once Vin, Chris and Josiah were through with her that wasn't the only thing on fire! Nope, this whole mess was a joint effort. Now she had to wear dresses with NO pockets every Sunday and EVERYBODY could see her!
She snuck away from the boys and took off for the trees. There was no way she was going to be in school after hearing that! She stayed there until Rhianna came for her and convinced her to go home. Of course once she got there Vin took her to her room and gave her one hell of a whipping. He then told her he would be back up to talk to her in a bit and she better have some answers on why she cut school. Now she was trying to figure out just what to say!
"So, ya got anythin ta say?"
True turned around to see Vin leaning against the door jam. She was so confused and just plain tired of thinking about it! She threw her arms around his waist and buried her face into his chest. "Creed said somethin bout me an I just got upset is all." She blurted out.
"What did he say?"
"It don't matter. It was nothin."
"Sunshine if it upset ya enough that ya skipped school it weren't nothin."
"Please Vin don't make me!"
Vin was starting to get a little worried. "Now True."
True looked up at him and frowned. "Oh Vin! It was awful! He said I was pretty!"
