The Summer King

The Continuation of Frozen

Prologue

A blizzard was raging in the forest making it almost impossible to make out what looked like two figures trudging through the snow and cold. But if you looked closer, you'd be able to spot that there were actually three, one was a rider and the other shadow walked onward, arms folded around his body to stop the shivering.

Pieter Brager huddled into himself as he felt a shiver erupt through his entire body. He couldn't keep going on much longer, not in this snowstorm. He turned around to locate his younger sister, Marta, who Pieter had placed on a young female reindeer, who they had named Lili.

They found the injured reindeer in the woods right before it starting snowing. Pieter wanted to leave the poor animal, but Marta had felt sorry for her. She persuaded her older brother to allow her to heal Lili and he agreed to it. He hadn't expected that Lili would be following them.

Another shiver went through Pieter's body and he clutched himself tighter. He couldn't get warm these days, but this was unusual weather for this time and place. It should have been summer, shouldn't it? Or was he just way off in his thinking. Or had he been turned around in his journey. He didn't know how long he and his sister had been on the run, all these days blurred together. All he knew was that he was tired and hungry. He had to come to grips about what happened and he knew he could never go back and begin again. Pieter wasn't even sure if his homeland existed anymore. Whatever he had done, it needed doing; he knew that. Now he needed to find someone else, someone he knew a long time ago and had almost forgotten her. They were in love once, a long time ago before her father shut the castle gates and no one could get close to her, not even her own sister. He had to explain to her what happened before it was too late. He had kept it to himself for so long, not sure if he could ever see her again.

He had heard about the coronation; gossip mostly he picked up from a few old women while passing through some town. He had heard them speak her name and it was all he thought about from that time on.

Pieter was so lost in thought that he hadn't heard the commotion around him or his 13 year old sister yelling for him. He couldn't move suddenly, couldn't walk or speak. He was so dizzy that he couldn't stand anymore. He didn't see a man with a sleigh and reindeer screech to a stop. He didn't hear the tall blond man stop to ask his sister what they were doing there and that they were trespassing. All Pieter could think of is how beautiful the snow looked as he collapsed into the soft white drift with only one thought on his mind.

"Elsa," he whispered, as everything went black.
