Hey, it's been a while, I know. This is just something I came up with and I am defiantly better at one shots and song fics so here's a one shot in a new category too. And I will be editing Junior Member soon, to make it flow better and go with what I have written. The song that really sets the mood for the story is the Scientist by Coldplay [my favorite band ever!] so I recommend at least listening to it once before or while you read this. Anyway, I don't own anything that you know and love but I hope you enjoy. =]
He was only supposed to be gone for a week maximum. Now it was going on the start of the third week. To say that Alicia was worried would be like comparing the sun to a firefly in how much light it gives off. It pained her to be separated from him for this long of a period.
After the first few days of not receiving any word from Aro or a straight answer from the others, Alicia locked herself in her loft only making contact with Heidi when she needed something. By the time Aro and the other guards had returned home, everyone was worried for Alicia's wellbeing. Aro didn't need to read any of their thoughts to know where Alicia was.
Aro made his way up to Alicia's loft as they called it because it was the highest room above the library and was so open. Three knocks were what signified to Alicia that it was Aro; everyone had their own special knock because of her. He listened to her soft foot falls as he imagined her coming across the room from the bay window. Once she reached the door there was still the riddle that everyone had to answer before they were allowed access to the loft. He heard her rest her head against the door, and he waited to hear her voice.
"Why is a raven like a writing desk?" Alicia's soft voice broke the silence; it was almost like a flute rendition of Erik Satie's Trois Gymnopédies, soft and somewhat sad. Aro sat there pondering the answer, of course he know it from the many conversations he had over the centuries but the pain from being away for so long was clouding his judgment.
On the other side of the door Alicia remained silent waiting to hear his voice again before seeing him. She didn't really care how long he was gone when he left, just as long as she could still hear his voice while he was gone.
"Because Poe wrote on both." His voice finally graced Alicia's ears. It had clicked once he really focused on the question. As soon as the words left his mouth the door swung open and Aro found Alicia in his arms. Her thoughts and feelings slowly trickled in as they stood in the hallway. Aro gently eased them to the floor so they would be slightly more comfortable.
"Aro please… please don't…" Alicia was cut off by Aro kissing her. "Cara mia, I am so sorry. I never meant to leave you for that long without a single phone call. All I really wanted to do was come home and hold you close. Please, please forgive me." Aro whispered looking deep into her eyes and seeing the forgiveness all ready there. "Just please don't go Aro." She said and they stayed in each other's embrace on the hall floor well into the next day.
