salt water, seaweed brain, and wise girl
"for some stupidly weird and crazy reason, i keep falling for you over and over again"
annabeth/percy
The first time Percy Jackson sees Annabeth Chase at age twelve, he falls in love. He falls in love with her steely storm grey eyes, he falls for her golden halo of princess curls, he's in love with her intelligence and grace, and everything about her. Annabeth is alluring and perfect to him, she's his everything. Before Percy Jackson limped worn out and half dead into Camp Half-Blood, Annabeth Chase never believed in love at first sight. She falls in love with that mop of unruly raven hair, those sea green eyes that bring her to the ocean every time she gazes into them, she falls for his charm and wit- or rather the lack of there of. When they're together, even the wind sighs contentedly and everything just works so well. They blend, they collide, they mesh so easily and naturally. As a half-blood you live in moments, because every moment could be your last; but to Percy and Annabeth, every moment lasted forever. It's a clear night the day they promise what can't be promised, with the bright moon hanging in the backdrop of diamond droplets of stars. They're fifteen now, sitting on the sandy shoreline with the soundtrack of crashing of lulling waves.
"Seaweed Brain, promise me you'll never leave me," she whispers, her solemn grey irises luminous and bright in the moonlight. The raven haired boy's hand finds hers and leans in, whispering into her ear.
"Promise. I'll always be by your side, Wise Girl. I could never leave you."
The first time Annabeth loses Percy Jackson is at age sixteen, when he's almost killed in battle. The world collapsed around her, everything swirling together in a blur as he lay in her arms, pale and dying. It's like the delicately placed pieces in the sky are falling out and crashing down upon them, it's when she realizes how ephemeral everything really is. The poison is coursing through his system while she frantically works to fix his wound, whispering to him through it all.
"Seaweed Brain, you promised. You can't leave me now, you just can't. Please. I love you."
All he can do in response is to give her one last loving, sickly smile before he fades away. But by some godly miracle, Percy lives and Annabeth promises herself that she'll never lose him again. But darling, you can't really promise anything.
The first time Percy loses Annabeth scares him so badly, so so horribly. His Wise Girl was kidnapped, and was probably being tortured right that minute. He's so scared, scared for everything. It's like time stops and fractures to shards and pieces and even if it's fixed it'll be cracked. Everything everything everything everything everything. Percy would risk anything to get his Wise Girl back to him safe and sound. Through stupid courage and dumb luck, Annabeth is back in his arms. And he promises he'll never lose Annabeth again.
But we all know that can't happen.
The last time they lose each other is the first time they realize it's okay to lose each other. Because if you love something, and it was truly yours, it will come back to you.
hope it wasn't too bad :) make sure to review and tell me what you think thanks very much :)
love,
ana
