Han Solo was not Force sensitive. He never had been and never wanted to be. But he had Force sensitives who loved him. And that left its mark, indelibly and almost invisibly.

First was Leia who loved the man with a passion that alternated admiration and frustration. Though she was untrained she still could tap unconsciously into the Force. Thus she always knew when her mercenary pilot was hurt, could feel it down to her bones. An extra sense if you will. That little touch of the Force wasn't much. Nothing more than a twinge of recognition from Force sensitives. Just a feeling that Solo himself was a bit familiar to strangers. And even then the weakest sensitives would never notice.

But there was also Luke, who loved Hans as well. The love of a brother and dear companion is just as powerful, particularly when it is felt by someone strong in the Force; and Luke was nothing if not strong in the Force. He tracked all of his loved ones as a matter of course. The farther he got in his training though, the less connected he was to his emotions. Particularly love. In the end the only people he tracked were Han and Leia. Luke's tracking increased that familiarity so even the weakest Force Sensitives could feel it.

Then Ben Solo was born. The little boy always wanted to know when his daddy was near. He latched on and never let go. It was a sense that traveled with him even through his fall to the dark side. By now the familiarity that followed Han Solo around was strong enough that Luke used it to train his new Jedi how to track using the Force.

Supreme Leader Snoke even put his own tracker on Han Solo. He was the only one, as Ben's father, that could draw his latest puppet back to the light. That could not be allowed to happen. So anywhere he could sense Solo was an area he ordered Kylo Ren from. Han Solo never noticed but in his later years' Force sensitives, whether they knew they were or not, reacted oddly to him. Depending on their disposition they either trusted or distrusted him implicitly on sight.

Han Solo was not a Force Sensitive; he was loved by many of them.

It was for that reason that the moment of his death the Force…screamed. For those who knew what happened, it went unnoticed. But for the rest they all felt it; a moment of pure unadulterated grief. It did not matter if the person was light or dark, strong or weak, even if they knew of not. Across the universe every Force Sensitive stopped at the inexplicable grief. Though Kylo Ren was unconscious even Snoke himself felt it.

On a nearly uninhabited planet, far away from the known areas of the galaxy, Luke stops still on the path he had been walking. The grief that surrounds him is absolute. He closes his eyes.

"Good bye, my friend. May find Peace"

He mourns more quietly than he would have thought he could have in his youth. Not only for Han, his friend and brother, but also the last shred of Ben Solo. Unlike Ben's grandfather, Luke doubts there is anything left to save in the man now known only as Kylo Ren.

He began walking toward his camp. It would not be long now before the next "chosen" one would find him. The next battle was primed and ready. It was time to begin again.

And all the time the closest thing to balance in the Force died just minutes before.

Because Hans Solo was not a Force Sensitive. But he was loved many of them.
