A/N: I really felt like something posting again even though I'm still working on chapters for my multi-chapter stories. XD This was a one-shot for a crossover roleplay forum I am a part of, and it features the charrie I play thinking and mourning the death of another charrie someone else plays. Their relationship is nothing short of adorable, and I just like how they interact. Yes, I was inspired by a song title, but it was perfect for the one-shot.
Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Thirty Thirty belongs to Flimation, Bonkers belongs to Disney!
It was a silent morning.
The sun lit the sky, with hues of red, orange and yellow to drive away the moon and stars back into the blue canvas of space. No cool fall breeze could be felt this morning; the trees and buildings of all various functions silently stood as they towered over the streets on the sideways.
All through the span of today's time, no creature, organic or mechanical, stirred.
All by one.
Slow thunder echoed quietly against the pavement. In its lone journey, it was in no rush to go anyplace... other than home back into the sacred mountains, a sanctuary awaiting there where it could unleash all of its remaining strength. Not that it was in the mood to.
Thirty Thirty was too distraught to run the distance back to his home in the Inn, after the long night he had and the horrible trials the mighty horse had to endure. He just shuffled along, head down uncharacteristically low to reflect the horse's sadness and pain. A weight was dragged behind him, one that only he, and perhaps other members of society if they so chose to, could see.
And so, acting as a draft horse, he carried this burden with him back home.
Where he could mourn in peace and away from the police at the loss of his little pard and friend, Bonkers.
It was strange how life worked at times... you never knew what one might normally cherished until you've come to lose it.
Thirty Thirty was far from the kind to take anything for granted, but he'd never thought he'd live to see a time when he'd actually lose somebody... er, unique as the toony bobcat. That insane creature, as goofy as he was, was someone whom he had come to like. Upbeat and eager to do as much as stompin' as the techno stallion, and very eager to help out people when it was needed, as he did for Thirty Thirty when he first came to this galaxy forsaken place.
And now?... Bonkers was gone.
Which left the Equestroid so stunned that he could hardly show any sign of emotion. The exhaustion added onto the numb state of mind.
In the past and even present, he was used to seeing loss and death, but nothing like this...
It hurt. It hurt deeper than when some darned fool took his own Sara Jane and used it do to harm against innocent people. It hurt deeper than the time when he and Bravestarr had a serious argument and almost destroyed their friendship in the process.
It hurt deeper than the time when the Equestroids...
Gallopin' galaxies...
He couldn't take it anymore.
The stallion stopped right what he was doing, and using the last remnants of what strength he had leftover from the night, he hunched over... and reared himself so high and shouted a very shrill neigh, a loud and mournful one to the cosmos. He wanted his buddy back now!
What good would that neigh, one of sorrow and grief, do?
Let the heavens know he was not happy with how Bonkers was taken away from him.
He needed Bonkers... and those good things that he did.
