A Hole in the World

Disclaimer: Angel belongs to Joss Whedon and Supernatural belongs to Eric Kripke

Spoilers: Post "Smile Time" and I play with the plot a little.

The sarcophagus that came in had drawn her instantly. She didn't know what it was, but she was compelled t o inspect it. That worried her.

"You want me to get our HazMat's on this baby?" Knox had asked, drawing her attention away.

"Yeah, I'll come with," she smiled at him before walking away, feeling the compulsion to look at the new item slipping away. She made a mental note to send a memo to Angel about it.

While the two scientists prepared, Sam wandered in the lab, looking for Fred.

"Fred?" He called her name as he walked in. He was here on an errand for Spike. Well, not so much an errand so much as Spike demanded another fresh mind on the whole caveman/astronaut debate that he was having with Angel.

"Fred, you here?" Looking around, it was pretty clear the lab was empty. Shrugging, he turned to leave but froze at what he saw.

A sarcophagus?

He'd seen weirder here, working for Wolfram & Hart..

He wasn't a scientist, never claimed to be one, but something inside him compelled him to step closer to it, to touch it. A purple crystal stood out, as his hand reached for it. It was smooth, but he couldn't tell much else. As he pulled back, a shutter opened, forcing a blast of air into his face.

Coughing, he stepped away and forced himself to stop as Knox and Fred came back in the lab, dressed in their HazMat suits.

"Are you okay?" Fred rushed over to him, while Knox stayed behind, eyeing Sam and then the sarcophagus.

"Yea, I'm fine," he answered. A second before, something felt off, but he felt fine now. "Spike wanted to see you in Angel's office."

Telling him she'd be up soon, Sam walked away, trying to clear his head.

He'd be fine, it was just a blast of air.
