People hated the rain. It was cold and wet and miserable and made everyday things like walking to the store or the train stop a hassle. Everywhere Sakura looked, people were grumbling and shaking water from their hats and clutching umbrellas like lifelines. Just like her.

And then beside her, there was Tomoyo, smiling and laughing as the raindrops sprinkled across her face, clinging to her bangs.

"Tomoyo-chan," she asked, "how can you be so happy as though it were sunny out? Doesn't the rain bother you at all?"

Tomoyo shook her head, moving closer to Sakura and leaning against her shoulder.

"I don't mind it at all," she said. "I'm with Sakura-chan. That's enough to make me giddy in rain or shine!" Sakura blushed, looking down at her shoes for a moment, then looked up again and smiled at Tomoyo.

"That's just like you to say that, Tomoyo-chan," she said. "I guess it's not so bad, then...at least we're getting all wet together instead of by ourselves!"

"Exactly!"

When they came to the fork in the road, they took the long way back to Sakura's house.
