James, Albus and Lily had always gotten along. They grew up together and faced their famous life side by side. Having the most well known wizard in the entire world as your father is not as easy as it sounds.
The three had all attended a public Primary school, although they all knew of their abilities, they just had to ensure they didn't slip up sometimes. Which was also easier said than done.
It is well known to the children's teachers that James, was in fact, the "trouble-maker" of the group. He constantly got himself into trouble, and was occasionally seen doing unbelievable things.
James is also a very good football player. Good, because he cheats and moves the ball with simply his eyes. He only had to focus hard enough and the ball could be on the other side of the entire pitch and even into the goal. He's never blamed though, he can't be.
Albus was the "clever one". He disapproved of James' careless behaviour when it came to magic, and he never used it in public himself. Without the help of magic, Albus was top of the class, except occasionally his sister, Lily beat him by a few marks.
Lily was in fact, "The goody two shoes" of the trio. She never told on her brothers, but she didn't have an issue with anyone that wasn't family getting into trouble. She was a beautiful child, with long ginger curls and a pale, cute face. Anyone would believe anything she'd say, even without the impression of magic, simply because she looked so innocent.
Home life for them was only partially easy. It seemed that every day they'd have a new visitor, someone needed help, someone else was such a great fan, someone else just wanted to look at their father's face.
They all walked home together, Lily walked in the middle with one boy on either side. Their backpacks almost matched. They were all the same size, just in different colours. Lily's was a light purple, James' was a dark red and Albus' was green, the colour of grass.
Today, when they got home, there were no visitors. In fact, they were faced with the sight of their parents, Harry and Ginny, sat on the sofa, waiting for their arrival.
"This can't be good." James sighed, dumping his bag at the side of the door and strutting into the living room to join his parents. "What's wrong?" He asked, collapsing into the sofa opposite.
Harry shook his head as if to say "nothing" but no words came out, a fake smile was plastered onto his face, the same with James' mother.
Lily and Albus sat down quietly next to James. None of them were used to this, this hadn't really happened before.
When everyone was settled Harry spoke first. "Did you all have a nice day?" He asked, eyeing each one of his children in turn, waiting for a response.
"Yes." Albus replied. "It was great." He paused, but everyone knew he was going to continue. "But what's all this about?"
"Well." Ginny spoke now, their mother. "We love you. You know that right?" She waited until her three children nodded. She remembered when they all fit on that couch so easily, and now they struggled to find space for everyone. "It's coming up to the end of little school." She explained. "And we want you to go to Hogwarts."
Lily gasped and threw her hand to her mouth in excitement. "Really?" She asked, amazed.
James eyebrows knitted together to form one. "You mean THE Hogwarts?" He asked. "The one where you almost got killed every year?"
Harry sighed, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. "It's safe now." He was clearly reminiscing on old times, but he threw them away quickly. "And I had a great time there, I really did."
Albus nodded, he had anticipated that this was coming. Of course their father would want them to go to the most famous Wizarding School in the world. "I don't mind." He said finally and everyone's eyes were on him. "Come on," He said, almost in shock. "Do you really not expect me to want to go to flipping Hogwarts?"
His siblings shrugged and returned their attention back to their father. "Okay." James said. "We'll go."
Harry's smile returned to his face, but Ginny's lips barely turned upwards. She'd miss her little children.
"School starts again this September." Harry continued, straightening up. "You'll have finished Primary school by then so you can join-" His voice cracked as he realised what he was saying. He was going to say goodbye to his children too. "Then." He finished.
Lily, James and Albus nodded in unison and gave their mother and father hugs before going upstairs. James and Albus shared a bedroom, but Lily had her own, and she didn't care in the slightest. She really got to focus on herself, her work and her books without any distractions.
Today, she made her way to her room and collapsed onto her bed. She looked up at the ceiling above her. She couldn't blank her mind, no matter how hard she tried. She didn't want to leave her parents, she never had before.
It would be easier for the boys, they'll get to stay next to each other in the dorms. I'm a girl I have to be on my own- what if everyone hates me?
But then a worse thought came to mind. What if I'm not in Gryffindor? What if I'm put in a different house? Completely away from my brothers?
She pushed them aside as best as she could, but tears strolled down her cheeks.
"Lily?"
The young girl snapped her head towards the door and her mother pushed herself further into her room.
"Are you okay?" Ginny asked, her eyes sparkling with tears threatening to spill down her face.
"I'm fine, Mum." She replied, sitting up on her bed. "I'm just worrying about going."
Ginny sat down next to her daughter and they both stared ahead onto the lilac wall. "I don't want you to go either." She said. "But you can still come back for holidays and we'll make the most of it!" She sounded excited now and she tapped on her daughter's leg.
"Okay." Lily said, wiping her eyes. "We'll all come back to see you every holiday." She confirmed.
Then Ginny wrapped her hands around her daughter and held her there, in her warm embrace.
