**Spoilers: Read after you've played the game (or have beaten Shadar's Arc) please**

A/N: I had the idea of Alicia having to play the Clarion to get to Shadar before their battle, so she would have had to have it with her when she cast Gateway/Breach Time. Thoughts?

"Now that you mention it, I do have to practice for my concert in the morning..."

Oliver thought back to those words for a moment. A child, he never took an interest in the activities his mother. He didn't even really remember the instrument she played. A flute, or clarinet perhaps.

He remembered for a moment that the instrument fell intro the category of woodwind, and that it was large enough to take enough space in his mother's closet and to have almost fallen and knocked her out one day.

It was good that he was sitting in his room when the idea to check his mother's room hit him. It was surprisingly eerie to him that he was going to "break in to" his mum's bedroom, but he was going to do it anyway. He crept down the hall and pushed the door open, just as he would if he had woken from a horrid dream.

From the closet he brought it down, the case. It was a leather case, he thought. Now he wasn't quite sure. It could have been beast hide.

And, with suspense, he opened it.

He was right. Inside, it was a clarion. The call of the clarion had rung out over the Miasma Marshes before. His mother, either the musician Allie, or the sage, Alicia, had cleared the path before. It was a hint to his destiny.

The morning it all started, was a call to the night it would all end. The call of the clarion.
