~Tell me I will never die
Take away my pain
Rock me gently in your arms
say that I'll be in your keeping~

Nancy lay on cement ground, feeling her blood flowing out of the wound in her side. The two vampires who had inflicted her wounds seemed to disappear, somewhere around the library. Maybe going for Giles. She couldn't bring herself to think about that, she was dying, her mind was dimming from blood loss. Oz and Larry came running up from other parts of the school, Oz dropped to his knees next to her. She felt something like hope flicker and then saw his eyes, he knew as well as she did she was dying. He gently placed his hand on her forehead and started whispering soothing words in her ear, she knew she should be crying. Death was so close. The tears wouldn't come, it seemed like to cry would make her weak at a moment like this. Nancy Doyle was far from weak.

~Brush the hair out of my eyes
kiss my finger tips good night
say that I can stay in your company
and I know this much is true
I have lived inside of you
You have always seen me through
While i'm peacefully sleeping~

Larry was standing with his back to them, staring out into the darkness as one of the last good fighters against evil slipped away from them all. He could hear Oz whispering things, Larry did the only thing he could do. He retreated into himself, letting them have their moment alone.

~you have always been my friend
I can see your view of me shine
I will love you till the end of time
long will I remain in your keeping~

Oz moved a lock of Nancy's dirty blond hair from her peaceful face, she was staring up at him. He could tell fighting for consciousness, there wasn't a shred of fear in her eyes and he wanted to tell her everything he'd ever thought about her. Love, friendship, anger, everything that made their relationship something original. They'd fought, but it had always been resolved. They both knew it wasn't worth it, in the world they lived in to keep fighting each other. They needed each other to go on. Now Oz was going to be left alone, he wasn't sure if he could do it.

He brought her fingers up to his lips kissed them gently, a smile danced across her lips and she sucked in a shallow breath. "Don't forget me, Oz. This world is so fucked. . . maybe it will get better. Remember me when it does, if it does. . . maybe part of me will go on with you. If you remember me."

~and I know this much is true
I will lived inside of you
You have always seen me through
You have always seen me through
while I am peacefully sleeping
while I am peacefully sleeping~

Oz nodded, letting his steal mask fall back over his face. Nancy could see the pain in his eyes, she wished he wouldn't do that. Care. It made everything so damn complicated. He held onto her hand, and she could feel his warmth radiating into her as the world finally dimmed to the final notch of darkness. She brought in her last breath, not feeling any emotions besides the love she could feel from Oz, even Larry who still had his back to them.

The world blinked out, and she was gone. Looking as if she was sleeping.
