The day started like no other in India. Parents woke up and awoken their children to start the day. It was going to be warm today, which was expected for the summer months. A young teenager was up and awake starting his day, doing kung fu in the fields. It had been three weeks, since he had returned home. Mowgli, was shaping up to be a fine young man. He learned self-defense from a food-loving panda, along with the other animal kung fu masters whom saved him from a pack of wolf bandits. After being found, he was brought to the monastery and taught in their ways of fighting. He had embraced the teachings of kung fu and now it was a part of him, like being in the jungle. He had been forced to return home after his enemies had kidnapped his parents, brother, Shanti, Baloo, and Bagheera to the temple. He had managed to save them and killed Shere Khan, but he knew Kaa and Louie would be after him again. However, he would be prepared to take them on again if he had to. He was no longer defenseless, he was skilled to protect himself now. Everyone welcomed him back with open arms, however the only one who wasn't happy with his return was the notorious hunter, Buldaeo. He hated Mowgli, and no one understood why. Ever since he came to the village, his cages were always open, and his catches gone. He always blamed it on Mowgli. He resented the boy the moment he saw him. Believing he was nothing more than an animal himself and not worthy to be with other humans, based on living in the jungle. He was determined to declare Mowgli should go back to the jungle and far away from the village. His parents, Shanti, and her mother amongst others defended Mowgli. He gained more support after he had told them how he defeated Shere Khan. Buldaeo called him a liar, but when he presented the hide to the village they saw he was telling the truth. Mowgli told the story of his journey into China many times, for it was a new favorite among the rest of the village children. However, Mowgli was soon to realize he'd be putting his skills to the test soon.

Mowgli's mother was up and about, making breakfast. Her husband came in and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close and kissing her.
"Good morning Messua."
"Morning. I take it Ranjan is still sleeping."
"Yes and Mowgli is already out in the field. Practicing." His pa said as he looked out the window.
Messua came over and looked through the window, where she saw Mowgli in the distance. She smiled. She still found herself checking his room to make sure he was still here. When he got up early and she couldn't find him, she panicked, but she realized that Mowgli was now used to waking up early. As he did in China. They all had to get used to his newly acquired habits, now it was a part of their routine.
"Still worry about him?"
"I do. I know he's back, but we almost lost him…and I don't know what may happen if…"
"There's no need now. Mowgli knows how to defend himself now and he's still learning kung fu from his friends in China."
"I know, but you know how he attracts trouble and it doesn't help that Buldaeo has been-"
He silenced her lips with his finger.
"I know. I'm just as worried as you are. But for now, let's allow Mowgli to have a little bit of peace before we must deal with another predicament."
Both parents looked out over at their eldest practicing, hoping what was said was true: That Mowgli have peace before something else happened.

It was like any other day, Mowgli had gotten up at dawn and finished his chores early and was now practicing his kung fu. He had grown accustomed to waking up early and getting his chores done ahead of time, this way he had the whole day to himself. And more time to practice his martial arts. Ever since he came back, after being gone for the past five months, he had felt more at peace than ever before. Nothing could drive him away from his home again. He kept in contact with Po, Shifu and the Furious Five using hawk mail. Shifu continued to send Mowgli scrolls of many different types of kung fu and he was determined to keep on learning. He had cleared the field and was using the rake as a staff, twirling it around and doing flips, kicks and punches. Not realizing he had an audience. He perfected another stance, "Hi-yaa."
"HI-YAA."
He turned to see a bunch of the village children around him, all with staffs or some sort of pole in their hands.
"Hi ya." He said unsurely. "What's going on here guys?"
"We want to learn how to fight like you Mowgli."
One of the boys said as he tried to do a spinning kick, only to fall flat on his butt. Mowgli chuckled a bit and came over to help him up,
"You guys wanna learn kung fu?" He asked.
Everyone nodded their heads excitedly at him,
"I'm still learning how myself-"
"But you know enough that you can teach us. Please."
The other teens and kids pleaded with Mowgli, who was a bit uncomfortable with the attention he was receiving.
"I-uh-guess I could show you a few moves." He stammered out.
The kids cheered, and all gathered around him.
"So, what do we start with? Kicks? Punches? Flying through the air?"
"Whoa hold on a moment guys, the first thing you need to understand is when you are taking the first step of kung fu, we are learning how to be gentle, while at the same time, we're being tough."
"But how do you become tough and gentle at the same time? They're opposites of each other." One girl said.
"Aha! Right there, you said opposites. Which is true, but if you look at it more closely you will see that you need both 'tough' and 'gentle' in order for them to work together. It's how you put things into balance with yourself and movement."
Everyone looked confused and Mowgli grimaced. How could he explain this to them more clearly? His eyes brightened as he got an idea,
"Let's see if this helps…"
He got down on his knees and everyone filed suit and he began to sing,

Mowgli: Earth, Sky, Day, Night

Sound and silence, Dark and light

One alone is not enough, You need both together…

Winter, Summer, Moon and Sun…

Lesson Number one

Everyone was in awe as Mowgli had jumped into the air and twirled the rake around him in midair before coming back to the ground gracefully.

Like a rock, huh-huh.

You must be hard, huh-huh.

Like an oak, mmmuh.

You must stand firm, huh-huh.

Cut quick like my blade.

Think fast, huh-huh

Unafraid.
Mowgli looked at everyone and gestured for them to follow him.
"Now you guys try it with me."

The kids got into stance and followed his lead: Like a rock, huh-huh.

I must be hard, huh-huh.

Like an oak, mmmuh.

I must stand firm, huh-huh.

Cut quick like my blade.

Think fast, huh-huh

Unafraid.

One of the boys got into stance and looked ready to fight an animal himself.
"Okay Mowgli, I'm ready!"
"Uh-huh," Mowgli said, straightening out his stance for him, "But you're still out of balance. Right now, You're only halfway there."

Mowgli: Like a cloud.

You are soft.

Like grass.

You bend in the wind.

Creeping slow.

You're at peace because you know.

It's okay to be afraid.

The kids: Like a cloud.

I am soft.

Like grass.

I bend in the wind.

Creeping slow.

I'm at peace because I know.

It's okay to be afraid.
As the kids followed Mowgli's instructions, he didn't realize the parents were watching him and smiling at what he was doing. Mowgli led them to a hill near the field and began to do his katas. With everyone following his lead

Mowgli: One alone is not enough.

The Kids: One alone is not enough.

Mowgli: You need both together.

All: Lesson # one (x5)

Lesson # 1!

Clapping was heard, and Mowgli turned to see that they had an audience. All the nearby parents had come to watch the commotion and saw Mowgli, teaching their children kung fu. Mowgli's pa came through the crowd and walked up to him.
"Nicely done Mowgli."
Mowgli blushed, "Thanks pa."
Mowgli felt a hand on his shoulder and his Pa was leading him towards the hut when they all heard,
"Boy!"
Buldaeo came through the crowd pushing people aside as he came into view, looking like a mad buffalo. His eyes scanned for Mowgli and when he saw him his face grew red.
"You let out my catches again boy."
He was coming at Mowgli, but his Pa came and put himself between Mowgli and Buldaeo.
"You are not doing anything to him Buldaeo." He warned the man,
"That boy is nothing but a menace." Buldaeo said practically shouting.
"He has done nothing but show the children what he learned from China." He tried to reason with the man.
"He learned how to fight from animals. You really believe that?! He doesn't belong here."
"He is my son and he is not going anywhere." Mowgli's Pa said.
Buldaeo tried to go around and grab Mowgli, only for Mowgli to use his pole and force his fist to the ground. Buldaeo was shocked by the sudden action.
"I have done nothing to you since I've been back, and you continue to accuse me of interfering with your hunts. You have nothing that says I did it so how can you say I did?"
Everyone watched with baited breath. Buldaeo grew angry and forced the pole off his hand and got up. He started walking away, but he turned to Mowgli,
"I got my eye on you, boy."
Mowgli kept his face stern and just watched as the man walked away. He felt his Pa making him move forward and caught himself from falling.
"Why don't you and Shanti visit Baloo and Bagheera today?"
"Are you sure Pa?" Mowgli asked.
"I'm positive. You've been working hard in the field today."
Mowgli smiled. He would like to see his father figures again.
"That'd be great." Mowgli said sincerely.
"Just be back in time for dinner and be careful out there."
"I will." Mowgli said as he started running to Shanti's hut.
