Walking into the crowded coffee shop, Stiles sat down at the last empty table and sighed. Stiles' week was chaotic, between school, work, and having a social life. He barely got anytime to sleep.
"Is anyone sitting here?" A small voice peeped. He looked up to find a small, strawberry blonde girl in front of him with AP books in her arms. She had beautiful green eyes and a gorgeous face.
"Uh, no. Go right ahead." He gestured to the seat across from him. Taking a sip from his coffee, he opened his math textbook to study for his finals. Stiles was always a good student but he just didn't get things sometimes and he felt like he needed to study extra hard, so he always went overboard doing it anyways.
"I'm Lydia, Lydia Martin." She voiced, offering a small smile. He picked his head up and grinned back.
"Stiles Stilinski." He stuck his hand out and she gladly shook it. This was one of the moments they would always remember, even if they didn't realize it in that moment. Lydia thought his hands were soft and she wanted to hold them forever. Stiles thought their hands fit perfectly together.
Taking her hand back after a minute, Lydia could still feel his warmth in her palm. She laid her hand on her thigh, tracing her palm and grinning. She used her other hand to open one of her many textbooks - she didn't want to lose his warmth.
"So you're in all AP classes?" Stiles muttered, nodding towards her pile of textbooks. Lydia was extremely intelligent. In her junior year of high school, she had enough credits to graduate. She studied hard because she wanted to prove to everyone who said women can't do anything and can't be smart wrong. She intended on winning the Fields Medal. Over the years, school had just become so easy she didn't really need to try.
Lydia laughed lightly, "Yeah.. I don't really know, school is just easy for me. I already know have the stuff we're learning. In my junior year of high school I had enough credits to graduate." She smiled, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. She didn't really like talking about it - it made her feel like she was bragging and slightly insecure.
He made a scoffing sound and raised his eyebrows slightly. "I wish studying came that easy to me." He began taking out highlighters - red, yellow, green.
"What do the colors stand for?" Lydia questioned, wondering how alike they were.
"Green is I understand, yellow is I'm working on it, and red is I don't understand." He said while taking the cap off of the yellow highlighter.
"You're the same as me." She giggled, turning to the page my homework was assigned to. When Lydia looked back up, he was staring at me and smiling.
"Yeah," He quickly turned his attention back to highlighting. "Except you're super smart." His smiled faded. Lydia frowned, did he think he was stupid?
"You know, if you really need help I'll study with you." She smiled again, reaching her hand across the table and put it on top of his.
"Okay." His eyes landed on their hands, and that was where it started.
