"Hey, Rin?" Sousuke asked, holding up an old book. "Is this your old journal or something? Because it's definitely NOT mine." He scanned the cover intently with his teal eyes. 'KEEP OUT' was written across the cover. Sousuke smirked. It was definitely Rin's.
"Yeah... It was," Rin replied. "Hey- what the hell?" He snatched the journal from Sousuke's hands, blushing furiously. "Get your nose out of that, Yamazaki." He, himself, hadn't read it in a long time, but he knew there had to have been some embarrassing stuff in there. And he wouldn't be able to live alongside himself if his boyfriend got his hands on it. He tucked it away into his school backpack, glared at Sousuke, stood up, and walked away.
-12:00 A.M.-
All the lights were off in Rin and Sousuke's dorm room. The only sound audible was Rin's gentle snoring. Sousuke knew Rin must have been asleep by then, and he was still curious. He climbed down the ladder as quietly as he could, and he prayed to every god he knew that Rin wouldn't wake up. Sousuke zipped open Rin's school bag, and yanked out what he was looking for. Rin's journal.
Sousuke pulled on a jacket and quietly left the room. He then snuck down the hallway, hoping no one was there. After all, there was still a curfew. Sousuke walked out of the school, and onto the sidewalk.
He sat on the ground, and opened the book. Guided by the streetlight's dim glow, he slowly read Rin's journal. Sousuke thought it was pretty boring, as it was pretty much the all the same, and was about to close the journal and go back into Samezuka, but he didn't. It was the last page, and what Rin wrote was pretty interesting. It was actually a separate piece of paper; Sousuke assumed it was a class assignment that he folded up and jammed into the book.
My Best Friend
Sousuke Yamazaki
My best friend is a boy named Sousuke. I like him most of the time, because he is nice, honest, and does what I like. Also I like it when I play Rock Paper Scissors with him, because I always win. I also love swimming butterfly with him, and I love hanging out with him after school. But sometimes I don't like him because he wins the swimming races, and also because we can't work together. I guess it's because we know each other too well. Sousuke usually doesn't smile, either. It makes me sad to see him never smiling because I only feel truly happy when he's happy, too! He shouldn't frown at everything, and it's honestly really annoying sometimes. Sousuke can also be a real dunce, too. He said he wanted to be a person who works really hard at a dangerous job someday, just so he can 'always be on his feet'. I really think that's dumb because it's not worth it! I don't ever want to lose my best friend, not now, not ever!
But although he's not perfect, those imperfections make him seem perfect to me.
Rin Matsuoka
It took a long time for Rin to realize why Sousuke smiled so much at him the next day.
