This is my first torchwood short story. the OC in this story is in two other Torchwood stories that I have written. One of them is still in progress. I got this idea after thinking what else the Stopwatch could be used for instead of the obvious.
Disclaimer: I do not own Torchwood as it is owned by the BBC
I noticed the stopwatch in Ianto Jones's hands as I was getting ready to go home. It had been a long day and everyone else had already gone home for the night. It was odd to see it in his hands. A single device that could be used to time a single moment in the hands of the mysterious Welshman. I was very curious as to why he was holding it.
"What's the stopwatch for?" I asked him as I put on my brown corduroy jacket.
"Jack has this game he likes to play with the trusty stopwatch" He answered very casually. "You can play too if you like Peter"
I had heard about this game well of what Owen had told me about it I kept thinking it was some sort of sex game. Not like I had anything to worry about though ever since the failure of my relationship with Captain Jack Harkness. I had noticed after we parted that Ianto and Jack had started having secret meetings in his office.
"Ianto, Jack and I..." I began trying not to dampen his spirit.
"It's not what you think" Ianto said knowing what I was trying to say. "Trust me it's not what you think"
I nodded and followed him upstairs to Jack's office. Now I was getting more curious as to what the game might be. If it wasn't what I thought it was, then what could it be? I was a bit hesitant as I walked up the stairs it had been awhile since I had been in his office but at the same time curiosity drove me to follow.
"Hey Ianto got the stopwatch?" Jack asked as we entered the office. "Oh hi Peter..." he said when he saw me.
"Yeah got the stopwatch, I thought that Peter might want to play as well!" Ianto explained and held up the stopwatch.
"Excellent, well I'll just get my Webley" Jack smiled and took out the antique pistol from the drawer of his desk. Now it wasn't making any sense as I eyed the pistol in his hands, what was it that they got up to?
"This is not Russian Roulette is it?" I asked really nervous of what the possibility might be.
"No nothing like that" Jack smiled and walked over to me with the pistol. I really was getting quite nervous as the feelings were still there, the warm feeling of love still consumed me every time I saw him but I had to end it.
"I want you to shoot me" He explained handing over the pistol.
"What?" I was shocked. The last time I had shot him I wasn't in the right state of mind. Paranoia had swamped my mind like it wanted to bring out the darkest disturbing thoughts that swirled the inner soul. I had shot him for a reason but now it seemed pointless.
"Seriously bring out the anger. I know you hate me for what happened" He smiled and placed the pistol into my hands.
He was right. Even if I didn't want to think about what happened. I couldn't bear looking at him everyday knowing what had happened. Anger came naturally for me as being a private person it was like the friend who would never let you down. I looked into his eyes and felt the anger burning up in my soul. I cocked the pistol and pointed it at Jack's head like I did back at the warehouse when insanity was my friend.
BANG. Jack fell over backwards and the anger that I was feeling became sadness. I had killed the only man who made me feel alive. Ianto pressed the button of the stopwatch.
"Ok so what's the catch?" I asked Ianto.
"Well the watch times how long before Jack comes back to life" Ianto explained.
"Really that's it?" I asked
"Yeah"
"Not really much of a game then"
