Before we get to the story, I would like to preface it with a disclaimer. I took inspiration from an author on this site called Blackhooded001. Her story, Mad World was very fun to read and had me wondering "what if I were to suddenly find myself into the world of Death Note?" I haven't read the manga or seen the anime in a while, so going back to fact check some of the events in this story has been a trip down memory lane. I haven't published anything in a while, and I thought I had given up writing fanfiction for good when I recalled a bet I made with one of my best friends in the seventh grade. The idea was for the two of us to write a fanfiction including both of us as characters and the first to finish their story would win. Being the perfectionist, none of my chapter were ever good enough to publish and the story fell apart after only three chapters. This original story called Dreams was then deleted. When I started high school, my friend and I put the bet back on and I tried again with the original story, now called A Revenant of Red Death. It didn't make it very far either, but this time I didn't delete it. I am now about to graduate from high school in only a few months and then will probably never attempt to write fanfiction again. I no longer watch anime and I have no time for fandoms. My childhood is coming to a bitter end. This is why I've decided to revamp this story, yet again; However, this time I'm taking a different approach to the plot. I don't know how far I'll get this time around, but I have the story planned out in my head. I hope to complete it so I can leave at last one finished work on this website before I go.
I urge you to check out the stories by my friend who initially started this bet with me all those years ago. Her handle is black-cat78766 and the her bet story is called A New Life. It's a Soul Eater fanfiction and I really enjoyed reading it as she wrote it in middle school. She got a lot farther than I did and although neither of us finished our stories, I consider her the winner of this bet. I have until I graduate, let's see if I can change that.
Thus, this story is dedicated to my childhood, my ungodly anime obsessions, and one of my most important friendships. Thank you, Nikki, for always being a good friend to me and I hope we stay in touch in the years to come.
