Shadow's Dilemma
Shadow sat on the park bench, staring at the deep gash on his wrist. The marking of dried blood was all over his arm, and it was a pretty annoying thing to have.
He turned his gaze up to the stars. There where countless millions, some that looked as if they were gods or some other kind off celestial being. There was one, a pretty pink one. The only star to exist that WASN'T the usual color. He stared at them, remembering all his good times with Maria on the A.R.K, then returned his gaze to his arm.
There was something missing, he felt. Like a part of his soul was missing. He closed his eyes and went through a list of things that could cause this-
Maria. Shadow had overcome that.
Motorbike. Not a DRIVING force.
Fighting. Not likely, he wasn't an ADDICT.
SparkTheHedgehog2012's ShadAmy stories. What the...? What's that?
Amy.
Shadow shook his head. What was that last one? Amy? She was a friend- maybe he missed friendship?
"Hello." Came a voice. He looked up. A pink hedgehog, wrapped up from the snow, stood on the pavement.
"Oh hi, Amy." He said, enjoying the scent of irony.
"Can I... Sit here?" Amy asked, pointing at the space next to him.
"If you want to."
She sat down, noticed the gash on Shadow's hand and made a worried face.
"What is... THAT?"
"Hmm? Oh this? Just... depression at its worst."
"You cut yourself?"
"In a nutshell, yes."
"Why?"
"I can't tell why, but I feel like something is missing recently."
"Like what?"
"A feeling. I only ever felt it when I was with Maria."
"I think I know what you mean..." Amy said. SHE felt as if she was missing something lately, too.
"Really?"
"Let me ask..." Amy said, "What do you feel in this...?"
She leaned in and kissed Shadow on the cheek. He turned and looked at her, and smiled.
"THAT certainly made it bigger."
"You miss a lover, Shadow. A girlfriend."
"Who could love me?"
"You're a wonderful person, Shadow!"
There was a pause as they both stared up at the stars, but Shadow broke it and said-
"I named one of those stars as a surviving member of the A.R.K."
"Which one?"
"That pink one that shines a little brighter than the others."
"Oh, I see it. What did you name it?"
Shadow turned and faced her. "Rose."
She smiled at him. "You named a star after me?"
He shrugged. "It seemed right at the time."
Amy shuffled in closer and, after a minute, snuggled up into Shadow. He put his arm round her.
And, before he knew it, their lips where together as one.
