Arthur's Prayer

This was not the first Christmas my Ronald was not home, but it was the first I had feared for his life.

I pray we'll be all right

And watch us where we go...

Just last summer during Bill's wedding, when, I shudder to think, You-know-who's army came. There was confusion everywhere. I found my youngest son gone, along with Harry and Hermione. I sent a message through my Patronus, telling them that the family is safe. But dread and fear filled my heart.

And help us to be wise

At times when don't know...

Molly wept in my arms that night. I wanted to cry as well but I could not. Gabrielle tried to comfort Ginny. Fleur was with Bill. And Charlie, with the twins. We all agreed long ago how much of a prat Ron was. But to not have him in the house made it too quiet. I knew Dumbledore left him, Harry, and Hermione a job to do. I only wish I knew what it was. Whatever it was, Dumbledore trusted them. I was thankful when the twins helped me with our ghoul.

Spattergroit! I had almost wished he had had it.

Let this be our prayer...

For when we go away

I was sad not to see his first train ride to Hogwarts. Unlike all his brothers, and Ginny.

Lead us to a place

Guide us with Your grace

To a place where we'll be safe...

I remember when I first held him in my arms. I thought he looked like Molly. Looking so fragile and... angry. I often chuckled at the memory. Neither Molly nor Ron would ever be above admitting it, but they are very much alike. There were times when I wonder how Fabian and Gideon survived her while growing up. Well, Ron survived Ginny, so I was not very surprised. I also remembered his first Christmas, much like this one. The his blue eyes, my eyes, as were Bilius', shone with a mixture of delight and curiosity.

...I pray we'll find the light...

I saw the Christmas star. It seems brighter that night than it ever did.

...And hold within our heart...

It seemed to know that I was worried for three of those who are dear to me. It seemed to know that I prayed for there safety.

...Let this be our prayer

...Just like every child...

I knew Harry was worried about us as well. He had never wanted any of us to be in danger.

Lead us to a place

Guide us with your grace

To a place where we'll be safe...

Wherever they were, I know they would find a way.

I know my son. And I know Hermione. And Harry. They have the will, as they did when they saved Ginny, so they will find the way.

Be safe, you three...

Author's note: Merry Christmas everyone! Yeah, kind of sad, I know, but hey, at least he's got hope- that's the important thing. And faith. If you like the song, try youtube for the complete song.
