A/N: Idk it's short, but I was bored and had the idea in my head because I was watching Robin Hood, and could not continue watching it unless I finished this XD Give me your thoughts on it! Enjoy c:
Much stood on the hanging platform, posture straight and eyes forward, not an ounce of shame or regret showing in his features. The hanging rope was there before him, calling him to his death. The audience below were bowing before Much's presence because he was one of Robin Hood's men, and they knew there was no hope for an outlaw now, even if Robin showed up.
At the thought of Robin, Much scanned the crowed for his Master. He knew Robin could not save him, but he did not want to go without the other knowing how he felt about him.. it sounded stupid.. but he wanted Robin to know that everything he did was for him only. Sure, helping people was great, but he only did it for Robin.
Out of the sea of people, he spotted Robin. Well, actually, the people spotted him first. They cleared a path for him to walk through. Robin wasn't carrying any weapons on him, but the others were behind him. But right now Much didn't care about the people he sometimes called his friends, right now his gaze was locked with Robin's, and Robin's his, as if their eyes could tell something their mouth could not.
"Much.." Robin started. His voice was toneless as if someone suffering through a great depression. Though they all were really, Robin never showed it, but maybe this time it had all hit him too hard.
"Master." Much replied. He couldn't stop a ghost of a smile form on his lips just from the sight of him.
"I.. I'm sorry." And this time the slight quiver in his voice betrayed him, showing signs of sadness, regret, lost and love. "I'm so sorry, Much."
"Master, this is not your fault." Much told him, his own voice starting to quiver. "Do not blame yourself for this."
The crowed of people were watching the talk intently, waiting to see if a miraculous rescue would happen.. but they all really knew nothing could be done.
The Sheriff stood up suddenly and walked over to Much, leaning on the pole keeping the hanging rope up. "Ah, I love interrupting a good love story!" He laughed excitedly, clapping his hands in a childish manner, then turned to address the rest of the audience. "Isn't a good love story worth ruining? Who will suffer more? The Faithful Companion, joining only to protect their friend, having to die without them? Or the Master, having to live without them?" He laughed hysterically again and turned away from the silent people. Sometimes the only reason worth talking to them was to scare them a little.
Much's head was now placed inside the rope. He was going to close his eyes, but he needed contact with Robin for just a little while longer.
And then the chair was kicked from beneath Much, and Robin was left to stand watching him die. Much did not struggle, but Robin did. He tried to run up, but he couldn't get past the guards, and he knew it was pointless.
"I LOVE YOU, MUCH!" Robin screamed as he collapsed to his knees, broken now and crying, but eyes still fixed on his beloved. "I'm so sorry! I love you!"
And Much smiled wide with all the strength he had, and mouthed back to him, "And I you, Master." And when he finally saw the dimmest of lights shine in his eyes, he finally closed his own and took his last breath.
