Title : "No fantasy anymore"
Rating : K
Summary : This is just what I imagined after Down to Drain
Disclaimer: CSI & characters are not mine, blablabla …
Author's note: This is my second fanfiction, it's a kind of sequel to the first I wrote called "Down the Drain personal view". I'm sorry if it's not completely grammatically correct but I'm a French native speaker. And I want to say a huge thank you to my friend Maxime for helping me to choose the right words :D
After the little « incident » that had happened earlier that day, Catherine did her best to avoid every eye contact with Warrick hoping to be discreet. But she wasn't. Warrick, who was suspecting why she had this strange behavior, decided to have a little conversation with her. He went to meet her in her office and without a word, he closed the door behind him and just stood there in front of Catherine.
- "Can we talk?"
- "Uh, yes, sure …"
She really didn't want to talk, actually. After a short silence particularly awkward, Warrick carried on:
-"Cath… Do you intend to avoid me like this all the time? 'Cause you know, it's gonna be a little bit complicated."
-"Oh but I, I'm not avoiding you."
-"Oh come on, please." Warrick didn't seem annoyed. He was rather worried.
-"What happened…" began Catherine but he cut her off:
-"You just fell. I caught you up and that's it, nothing's wrong".
She couldn't believe that he was hiding from the truth like this! Her blood began to bubble…
-"Oh come on, Warrick, you and I we both know that it wasn't "just" this" He looked at her intensely before answering:
-"Yeah. I know but…" Catherine hung her head and let out a deep sigh.
-"I know what you are thinking." She put her head up and looked at him. Her face had a resigned look, almost defeatist. A look that Warrick had never seen on Catherine Wilows' face. She carried on:
-" I guess you're right. It's not good. It would make things complicated, it would turn the team upside down and neither one of us wants to leave.
He approved. In fact, it wasn't really what she wanted but it was what they had to do, there was no doubt about it. But somehow, she would always hate herself not to have dared, earlier that day, to realize her fantasy. So, before he could open the door of the office to go out of it, she called him out, stood right in front of him, drew his face as she could lay her lips on his to finally share that famous kiss with Warrick Brown. When they pulled apart, she simply said smiling:
-"I just wanted to know what it felt like."
THE END.
