JJ was in her office, carrying on her work as usual. She had just finished lunch — which she'd worked through. Lunch for her was usually a light snack. These cases had a tendency to make you feel uneasy. She looked through the file, eyes scanning over the pages. Somewhere along the way she read about how the UNSUB takes his victims jewelry and immediately realized that she didn't feel hers around her neck but knew she had put in on that morning.
"Oh no," she breathed out to herself, pushing her chair back to see if it had fallen on the floor. She began searching her office for it, under the files on her desk. That necklace meant the world to her, not only was is the only thing she had left of Rosaline but it was also the thing her sister had given her as a final "I love you"
After coming up empty in her office she tried to remain calm and retrace her steps. She made her way down the break room where she had kept her yogurt that she had for lunch stored away in the fridge, then checked around the coffee machine which she had used that morning. The only other place she had been had been Hotch's office, however he was in a meeting with the section chief and she'd have to wait before searching there.
She went back to her office, checking there again because she couldn't just give up. The necklace had to be somewhere. She hoped it had fallen off while she was still at home— mentally praying that it hadn't fallen off outside or in the parking lot where she wouldn't find it. She still intended to check those places.
"JJ?" Her office door opened, startling her from her thoughts. She heard the door close.
"Yeah?" she asked, shaking out her jacket to see if it had gotten caught on that.
He walked over in front of her and wrapped an arm around her waist, holding the gold chain up with his other hand. "I believe you're looking for this."
JJ breathed out in relief before hugging him tightly. "Oh God, Aaron I thought I'd lost it!"
"It must have come loose when we were uh— I found it by my desk." He smiled tenderly at how relieved she looked before walking around her, slipping her hair to the side over her shoulder and hooking the necklace back around her neck where it belonged.
"How was your meeting?" she asked, touching the necklace with her fingers.
"Good, the strings Rossi pulled helped us out. As long as we continue to do our jobs, we're in the clear."
JJ smiled at that, before turning around to give him a kiss.
"See you tonight." He whispered against her lips before pulling away and going back to his office, leaving her exited for their dinner and romantic night ahead.
