~Pleasant Dreams~
She sighs as her tender gaze falls onto Emily, head on the table of her workbench sleeping. Scraps of fabric lay haphazardly on the table, along with a pair of scissors and a bottle of glue. A half-finished dress is proudly displayed on the mannequin - what she can only assume is Emily's dress for the Flower Dance. What other event coming up recently would warrant a dress that fancy? Smiling, she tiptoes over to her wife to gently shake her shoulder to wake her before a loud squawk comes from in front of her, and her gaze falls onto Emily's parrot who squawks again, clearly not liking that someone has gotten too close to his owner. You'd think that after nearly two years of dating and one year of marriage the parrot would be used to her by now. "Relax, it's just me," she says to the parrot in a soothing tone, brushing a strand of hair away from Emily's face. "I just want to make sure Emily falls asleep in a bed, that's all."
The parrot squawks again in a less threatening tone, and she gently runs her index finger across Emily's cheek. "Em..." she whispers. "Em, you need to go to bed."
Emily moans lightly in her sleep and her eyes flutter open. She blinks a few times as her vision adjusts before she sits bolt upright, the remaining fabric scraps on the table fluttering off the table and onto the ground in the process. "How... how long have I been asleep?" Emily asks.
"I'm not sure," she replies with a slight giggle, already beginning to help pick up what has fallen on the floor. "I came in and found you like this."
"Well, at least I got some work done on my dress today." Emily sighs, before stooping down with her wife and collecting the rest of the fabric. Their fingers brush against each other and both of them pause for a moment, lifting their eyes to meet each others. "You know, I was dreaming about you again," Emily muses as she slowly rises from the floor, depositing the sewing materials on her workbench. "I'm positive it was the energy coming from my wedding amulet that gave me such a pleasant dream."
Nodding, her eyes fall to the blue shell Emily is wearing around her neck, remembering the day she purchased the amulet; the butterflies in her stomach as she held out the necklace to Emily, the absolute joy in her heart when she'd said yes. She rises also and places her armful of cloth down, surveying the area making sure there's nothing else on the floor. "I feel bad for waking you then." she murmurs, while Emily shakes her head.
"Don't be. I'd rather spend time with the real you than one my mind conjured up."
She smiles and takes Emily's hand, squeezing it. "Why don't we head to bed now, dear? You seem pretty tired and I've had a busy day working on the farm."
"That sounds nice," Emily hums, switching off the light in her room and stepping into their bedroom. "But before we head to bed, how about we go watch the stars for awhile?"
She smiles, and with her hand clasped in Emily's begins to lead them to the door. "That sounds nice."
