(italics are people's thoughts)

It had been a whole year since he had downloaded the new intersect. Despite the training, the missions, the marks he had to seduce in the name of the government, he was still the same man she had grown to love. And Beckman, emotion-less Beckman, had at last revoked the kill order. So Charles Irving Bartowski sat with the girl he loved.

She gave up everything she had ever known; the CIA, the missions, the wall she had built to suppress her emotions. All gone, for something, or rather someone, well worth it.

They sat, watching the waves crash along the shore. It was so much like that morning almost three years ago, yet so different. He shifted, pulling her out of the memory.

"Sarah?"

"Yeah, Chuck?"

"I know you don't like to talk about your past." Not true. I do, now. Because of him. "But I, well, I, uh, something's been bothering me… I'll never really know that much more about you than I already do… and—" he trailed off, and she sat for a moment, biting her lip, before it all tumbled out.

"I grew up all across the states… my dad dragged me around for his stupid cons… the last time I saw my mom, I was 3, I can't really remember much about her except her eyes, they were brown, just like yours… and… I, well, I don't know all the story, but my dad took me away from her… I, he took me on his cons with him and we were pretty close. He always picked my names… one time I was Elizabeth Marks, and Catharine Whitley, Barbara Morgan, Victoria Katrina… the last one before I became Sarah was Jenifer Burton… that was when he decided I needed to go to high school… then he was arrested and I was recruited… and I trained at Harvard and became one of the best… because I never really had a family so I already hid my feelings… then I met you and everything changed… you weren't just another mark, I knew that the moment I met you… and you were king and caring and loving and everything I could never be, you have a sister who loves you and a family of friends, and I knew I was compromised… I… Chuck, I, don't know how to say this… I… uh…" A tear escaped her eye, then another. "Chuck, I love you."

"Sarah, what's your name, your real name? I understand if you don't—"

"Sarah Lisa Walker. Well, sort of… see, my dad never told me my real name, even when I cried and begged him… finally one day he told me my first middle name was Lisa… so I never asked again, just treasured that one little bit about myself… so I went with the covers and aliases he gave me… then Graham gave me the name Sarah Walker… and then I met you… and that's when who I am today was born… so, that day, I became your Sarah, Sarah Lisa Walker was born…"

He shifted and stuck his hand in his pocket and kneeled. Then he took her hand.

"I've loved you since the moment we met… you were perfect, still are, and well, you're, you're amazing, not only are you the most beautiful woman in the world, but you can kick the butt of any guy you meet. Sarah Lisa Walker," he pulled his hand out of his pocket, revealing a small box with a twinkling ring in its velvet lining. You can do this."Will you marry me?"

She leaned in and kissed him passionately. The tears streamed down her face as she whispered in his ear.

"Yes."

From across the beach, Ellie Woodcomb watched her little brother. She didn't need to hear the words to tell what Sarah had said.

"Took him long enough!" she mumbled, as her husband, Devon, her friend Casey, and his wife, Ilsa, joined her for a group hug.
