A/N: a fic inspiration I've been pondering about for a while now. I don't know if I have time to continue and what I've written down seemed like it would be an okey oneshot.. so here it is! I don't own the fandom, characters,.. you know the drill.

"Ron.. have you thought it through?" Ginny asked after closing the bedroom door behind them. Her brother looked at her in wonder, probably thinking how she had found out.

"The ring on Hermione's finger is not exactly imperceptible, you know. Used to be Grandma's, right?" A dreamy smile came upon his face as he nodded, undoubtedly already having forgotten where he was and with whom.

"Ron, there's something.. you should know." Ginny's somber, even reproachful voice woke him up from his dreamland. What had he done wrong? His sister used that tone only when she was really mad about something.

"I didn't put the bugs in you room, I swear! Fred and George –"

"I don't care about that! Ron, you just don't get it, do you?" By the look on his face she deducted he didn't understand what she was talking about.

"I.. Oh, fuck this all, I love you, alright!"

Fred and George changed looks. Maybe this was a really bad moment to eavesdrop..

"Let's get out of here", one said, wanting to forget what he had heard. His sister.. "Yeah", the other agreed and they left as quietly as possible. And as quickly as they could.

"Um.. ditto? Ginny, what was it that was so important –"

The younger redhead took deep breaths to calm herself down. She had said it out loud, said it all out loud, and he still dared to interpret it as sibling love?

"Ron, please.. I laugh at your jokes – "

"Yea, you're the only one who –"

"I get upset when you disappear all the time – "

"We're going to be fine, Harry's got luck to share to – "

"And I get upset when I find out about your and Hermione's engagement!"

Silence filled the room. Ron, it seemed, didn't have any comeback at that.

"Um.. you're mad that Hermione hasn't told you? I mean, you are like best friends and I guess with girls – " Ginny shook her head and decided on another approach.

"Ronald. I swear, your logic is right. Don't try to find excuses. I know you've realized it a long time ago. I wasn't really upset that Harry broke up with me and you saw it. Even Malfoy would have been more upset than I was.."

"Ginny, no. You love Harry. Stop screwing with me!" Seeing him so confused, so upset made Ginny regret ever saying anything. But still, he had to know. She wouldn't have been able to live on, knowing she had never let him know.

"I'm sorry. I won't be bothering you anymore, Ron, so –"

"Dinner! Fred, George, you were supposed to get Ginny and Ron downstairs ages ago!"

The two youngest siblings froze. Their eyes turned, slowly, towards the door.

"You didn't use Muffliato, did you?" Ron asked, hoping she had. The twins had on more than one occasion been listening behind doors.

A small, quiet "no" left Ginny's lips.

A silent curse escaped from Ron, and he glanced at her. She was so pale he was afraid she might faint right then and there.

Then what had just transpired between them came back to him.

"I'm not hungry", Ginny said and pushed past him to the door. Without looking back – not that he would have noticed – she hurried to her room.

That night was spent crying.
