Disclaimer: This isn't mine. Well, this drabble is, but the intellectual property that is Glee isn't. Just in case you were wondering. Right, moving along.

A/N: Okay, so I am a sucker for character pieces. I love to read them and occasionally get inspired to write them. Basically I try to come up with believable extrapolation. And that sounds way pretentious.

Chances are I will frack this up completely, cause in D-Land you can only see the episodes in German, which sucks, cause I prefer original thank you ever so much, they are way behind and the DVD's are extortionate. Why the hell would I pay through the nose for one half of a season? Okay, sorry, pet peeve of mine.

Anyway, any mistakes there are character wise are mine, cause my exposure to Glee is restricted to the first nine or ten episodes which I watched on the net before my source got annulled. *sighs*

So onwards and upwards.

Chapter One: Rachel, age 4

Rachel was four years old when she first realised that she was something spezial. It was exactly five days after her birthday and her pink princess phase was in full flourish. She already knew most Disney movies off by heart and was well on her way through her Dads' DVD collection. It was a carefully edited collection she was allowed to browse, as her Dads were fully aware of their duties, and therefore tended towards children's movies and musicals.

Rachel was watching spellbound as Mary Poppins slip up the banister and then instructed the Banks children in the intricacies of cleaning the nurseries. Her favourite song was coming up and she had seen the movie often enough to know it off by heart.

As Julie Andrews' lovely voice rang out, little Rachel in her pink, pouffy dress, tiara firmly in place, pudgy hand wrapped around her silver, sparkly wand sang along, first quietly and then with increasing volume.

Her Daddy was in the kitchen preparing a snack for them and smiled at hearing his little songbird. A smile that changed first to astonishment and then outright shock as his little girl not only hit every note but kept up with Ms. Andrews every step of the way.

Rachel was truly something special.

A/N: So interesting fact. Julie Andrews started as a child in Vaudeville, cause even at that age she had a 'freakish' four octave range. True.
