Just an additional scene to go along with the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3. I wish they'd done more with Shepley for this. As much as I loved the bar scene, I just felt there should have been a bit more to it than that, so here's my take on what could have happened on their rain check. Reviews are greatly appreciated!
Shepard slowly made his way over towards the hot tub in Anderson's apartment, his muscles still aching from completing James' challenge of beating his record of 182 pull ups a few days ago. He should have just conceded but when James started chirping him, his pride had gotten the better of him. He didn't know how the hell he'd made it to 183 but he did it and seeing the look on Vega's face was completely worth it . . . or so he kept telling himself.
He let out a groan as he plodded into the bathroom, standing in front of the hot tub as he slowly stripped down, tossing his clothes onto the floor.
He dipped a toe into the water, testing out the warmth before easing into it.
He let out a sigh of relief, slipping into a seat as he rested his head on a headrest, closing his eyes. This felt amazing as he could feel the stress just melting away, his sore muscles feeling a million times better.
A few minutes later he heard the sound of a door opening from downstairs, his senses going into high alert as he sat up a little straighter, turning around as he prepared to exit the hot tub quickly.
"Shepard, you here?" Ashley's voice called out as he relaxed a little, a smile on his face. She must be here for the rain check.
"Yeah, I'm up here! I'll be down in a minute." He called back, climbing out of the hot tub as he grabbed a white towel, wrapping it around his waist.
"I'm here to take you up on that rain check. Brought along some of James' tequila, so we can settle this once and for all, no interruptions this time." She called back.
"If I remember correctly, you ended up on the floor after drinking some of that crap. You really want to have a repeat of that?" He asked as he exited the bathroom, heading down the stairs and into the main area.
He looked to his left to see her standing a few feet away, holding a bottle of tequila in her right hand as she had a smile on her face. When she saw him, her eyes widened in surprised, the bottle slipping out of her hand.
He quickly grabbed the side of his towel with his left hand, reaching out his right and grabbing the bottle with his biotics, carefully setting it down on the ground.
"What's the matter there Lt? A little distracted?" He said, grinning broadly at her as he walked over towards her, beads of water dripping off of him and onto the floor.
"I. . .uh. . .damn it Shepard, how's a girl supposed to concentrate when you walk in like that? I'm calling foul." She complained as he stopped just inches in front of her. She could feel the hum of his biotics, filling the air with an electric charge as her pulse quickened ever so slightly.
"Maybe we should call this little contest off then. Like I said before, I have a much better way of testing your endurance Ash, but if you really want to settle this with drinks, I guess I'll go get change .. ." He began, Ashley cutting him off by grabbing his face in her hands in kissing him firmly before letting go.
"I like your idea much better." She said, slightly breathless from the kiss.
Shepard grinned as he scooped her up into his arms, carrying her off towards to the stairs leading to the bedroom.
"Best rain check ever." He replied.
