My Girl
My Girl
Chapter One – Say Something!
New story I thought of, again in the beauty parlor. It's kind of a mix of Raising Helen and my own personal idea. Oh, and I got a bit of the idea from the book "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea". I want it to be short, but it's too much for a one shot, so…
I start school tomorrow! I am so pissed. It seemed like such a long time away and now it's here. I guess I'll just have to roll with the punches. But, I really really really really don't wanna go.
Andie got busted. That's right, busted. For a crime. And for her community service, she has to take on a lost cause that everyone has given up on. Bennifer Collins. That's right, bad little Benny Collins. Andie was gonna have to take on a two time convicted felon. But, down the road, she might just make a friend. And with sexy older brother, Chase, hanging around, she might just make a lover too.
Disclaimer: I down own Step Up 2, or any of the characters. But, I own the OCs.
A/N: This is in Andie's point of view and I'mma type it in the first person, cool?
I sat in the most uncomfortable chair in a small, silver closed off room with her. And she stared at me. The most rude, annoying, uncooperative teenager in the world. And I was gonna have to take care of her. What kind of a shit hole did I get myself into this time?
Since when does taking care of a kid count as community service? Yeah, community service. I got busted. For what, you ask? Incest. Now, before you go judging me, I didn't know he was my freaking uncle, okay? I was just sitting by myself in a Starbucks near my house and before I knew it we were rolling around naked in the backseat of his car. I was just about to… well, you know, when a police officer came knocking on our window and telling us "kids" to cut it out. I guess sex in public is a crime now, because he took us down to the station. As we were being processed, one of the cops informed us that we were related. I'm pretty sure a part of my mind died as I thought about what would happen if I just happened to be pregnant with his child. To think my first baby would be born with six toes and a lisp. I looked over to him, my pupils dilated as if I'd just had a full bottle of whisky (which is really sounding good right now) and he smiled at me. You know what? I think he knew I was his uncle the whole time. You know, every family has that one member who, for your fifteenth birthday, buys you a room key to a crappy motel two blocks from his house and a pair of edible panties.
"You two get acquainted." A police officer said standing from the chair her was sitting in. As he left, he laughed. No doubt at me and my… incident with my long lost uncle.
"So, what's your name?" I asked the kid, smiling. I knew it, though. Everyone did. This kid was in the news every day. She was in the papers more than Osama. But, just to be polite…
She didn't say anything. I didn't really expect her to, but if I was gonna have to hang out with her, I might as well make some kind of effort. "Mine's Andie. How old are you?"
Thirteen. Frickin' thirteen and this kid had the whole town in terror.
"I'm twenty three. When's your birthday?"
Okay, I didn't know that, but I was doing good, right?
"Mine's March nineteen."
She smirked at me a little bit, then pulled the hood of her sweatshirt up over her head and closed her eyes. She pulled an MP3 player out of her pocket and put the headphones in her ear. She started bobbing her head to the music and I huffed. She was being difficult. "Look, kid." I began, pulling her headphones out. She gave me a half shocked, half angry look. "You don't like me, and I don't like you. But, these next months are gonna happen. So you can either cooperate, or sit there and make both our lives suck."
She rolled her eyes, then plugged her headphones back in. But, my eyes widened when I saw her do what seemed to be opening her mouth. "My name is Bennifer. You may refer to me as The Ben or Bad Benny. My age… is none of your business. My birthday? Unless you're planning on getting me a gift over fifty dollars is also none of your business."
I raised an eyebrow and snorted. "What, are you gonna 'lay down the law'?" I asked, making air quotes with my fingers.
Benny smiled in response. "In fact, I am." She leaned against the table, glaring at me. "I don't like being told what to do. And I'm sure you don't like getting your ass kicked by a thirteen year old. So, for the next six months, you leave me the hell alone and at the end of this period, you tell the judge I was a good little girl."
To be perfectly honest, I was a little intimidated. She was small, but she had a look in her eyes that told me if I even flinched, she'd shred me like an angry raccoon. "I'm not scared of you, little girl." I lied, doing my best to keep my cool. She chuckled, and by that I could tell she wasn't buying it. Before turning back to her MP3, she gave me a sweet, innocent little smile before flipping me off. My mouth dropped ten inches and I crossed my arms over my chest. This kid was not gonna be easy.
--
There was a loud buzzer sound and the metal door was pushed open. Two officers stepped into the room, one carrying handcuffs. He stood the little terror up and pulled her hands behind her back before cuffing them together. "Ma'am, we'll follow you in your vehicle to your home and drop her off." The cop holding her said in a thick, New York accent. I nodded, then was escorted out of the large metal room by the other officer.
Once we were outside of the building, I stepped into my car. I looked back to see the first officer shoving Benny into the car, and for a moment, felt sorry for her. It must've been so embarrassing to be treated like a murder in front of the whole town.
We drove for about twenty minutes before I pulled up in front of my house. I climbed out of my car, then escorted Benny and the officers into my home.
"Andie, is that you?" That was the voice of my thirty year old sister, Weston. I hadn't actually met West until my mother died. She'd told me she was tired of living with our dad, and once she found out that my mom had died, she thought I might need a comforting family member. At first, I constantly reminded her that she was only a half family member and I had Sarah's shoulder to cry on. But, Sarah was working two jobs just to take care of Charlie, so I finally bit the bullet and moved in with her. We'd been really close since then.
"Yeah, it's me."
She came wobbling out of the kitchen, holding a bundle of grapes in one hand and a bottle of Sangria in the other.
"Give me that!" I said, taking the alcohol from her.
The girl I now refer to as Demon leaned into me. "That girl's kinda fat."
I laughed. "Yeah, I know."
West threw her grapes down on the ground. "I am not fat!" My sister shouted, "I'm pregnant! Duh."
She waddled her pregnant ass back in the kitchen, then pulled out another handful of grapes. "By the way, D, can you pick those up for me?" She asked, now in a soft tone pointing to the grapes at the ground. Her mood swings were really starting to annoy me. She's been pregnant four months now; shouldn't the baby be here already?
"Yeah, yeah." I bent over, then picked the grapes up and tossed them in the nearest garbage bin.
"So, is the father another uncle, or a distant cousin?" Demon asked teasingly.
West tilted her puffy head to the side. "No, the father's a friend of mine. Andie, what does she mean?"
I shook my head, begging to drop the subject when Demon smiled.
"You didn't tell your fat friend about your love affair with your uncle?"
"What?" West laughed, apparently now okay with being called fat. "You slept with your uncle?" She and Demon were now rolling, clutching their sides and laughing.
"Fat people should be a little more sensitive." I said, taking the bunch of grapes from my sister and plopping down on the couch.
Her eyes went wide again. "I'm not fat!
Why is it that when the demon calls her fat, she laughs, but when I do I get yelled at?
My angry trance was broken by the sound of the front door being unlocked. A head with curly black hair poked through. "West, I got your poppy seed bagels."
"Thanks, Robert." My sister said, opening the door. She ignored the many groceries he was carrying and went straight for the bag with the bagels. She took one bite out of one bagel, then threw the entire bag to a corner in the room.
"Um, can you start calling me Moose?" He asked, struggling to get through the door with the millions of bags on in arms. But, hey. I wasn't about to get up and help him.
"No," West called back from in the kitchen. She reached in to the fridge and pulled out a container of cream cheese, which I thought she was gonna use on the bagels. I was disgusted to see her stick her entire tongue into the container and eat the cheese directly. "So, D, you never told me who that kid was. Is she the baby you had with your uncle?" She dropped the cream cheese and begun to laugh again, along with Demon.
"Ha ha, very funny." I began. "She's my community service. I have to take care of her."
"Did I hear that you had a baby with your uncle?" Moose asked.
I huffed. "I did not have a baby with him. I just slept with him."
"Yeah, that's much better." Demon coughed, still laughing.
"Well, young lady, my name is West." My fat sister said, stepping out of the kitchen. "What's yours."
"Bennifer." She said simply.
My eyes went wide. Why was it that when I asked her name, I got a death thread and all West gets is a name?
"It's nice to meet you." Devil Jr. added, holding out her hand.
West smiled. "Well it's nice to meet you too." It took her 'bout a half hour to lean down to Benny's height and shake her hand. "That's my friend Robert. And you know my half sister Andie."
I smiled halfassedly and waved three fingers at Demon, who waved back happily. Too happily.
"It's nice to meet you, Robert." She said smiling.
Moose smiled. "Call me Moose." He kneeled to Benny's level and shook her hand, too. All this was making me sick. How could Moose and West fall for her evil tricks? Did pregnant women have heightened senses or something? This kid should have SEED OF CHUCKY written across her head.
"Hey, I know you from somewhere." West said, scratching her head. FINALLY! They were gonna remember her from the news papers and find out what an awful kid she is! "You're the little girl who sold me these Girl Scout cookies!"
My expression was shocked, as was Benny's, but she nodded her head anyway. West must've mixed her up with some other little girl. I guess pregnancy weakened your senses.
"That's me!" Benny smiled. She was a not-so-surprisingly good liar. "I hope you enjoyed them."
"They were delicious." West smiled. She stood up (in about twenty minutes or so) and made her way back into the kitchen for the fourth time since I'd been home.
I jerked my head toward Demon. "You liar!" I whispered.
She leaned into me. "Like I said, you stay outta my hair, I'll stay out of yours."
I thought for a moment, then complied. The both of us were smiling when my sister waddled back into the room.
I hugged her, then Moose, then shot Demon a look of agreement before heading toward my room. I needed to call my friend Missy. She'd probably be the only person to not judge me about this.
--
"You weirdo!" My best friend Missy Espinoza shouted into the phone after I told her the news.
"Mis, calm down!" I pleaded into the phone. "You can't make a big deal out of this. "It'll be over in just six months. Me and the kid made a deal to stay out of each other's business."
There was a long pause before she answered me. "Six months seems like a long time. What are you gonna do till then?"
"I don't know. I guess I'll just pretend to love her until it's over and done with. Then the Demon will be out of my hair for good."
The rest of Missy and my conversation mostly consisted of her asking me how "it" was with my uncle. Her cruel jokes played no effect on me, though. Because if I played my cars right, I could keep Benny out of trouble and still have a life. It would just take effort. A lot of effort.
I was just about to beg Missy to change the subject when the doorbell rung. "I'll call you back." I said into the phone before hanging up. I pushed myself off the bed. I knew it would take West a half an hour to waddle to the door, Moose was probably busy dancing, and I DEFINITELY didn't want Demon answering it, so I would have to answer the door myself. I walked from my room toward the door. I could see West about a mile back, trying to beat me. I restrained from laughing as a I pulled open the door.
"Hey, is my sister Benny Collins here?" Asked a tall man about my age asked. He had dirty blonde hair and muddy brown eyes, just like the Devil herself. He wore a pair of baggy jeans and a wife beater.
I smiled charmingly and nodded, stepping out of the way for her to come inside. The first thing he did when he saw her was hug her. To my surprise, she hugged back. Was she actually showing emotion toward another human being? I was shocked.
He looked down at her with compassion. "Now, please be nice to Ms…?" He trailed off, looking in my direction.
"Oh, West. Andie West. That's my sister… West. West West." I pointed off toward my big, fat pregnant waddling sister.
He smiled and waved to her as she stopped and took a seat on the steps. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Chase. Benny's sister. Sorry if she's a bit…"
"It's alright." I smiled, then made my way over to the little devil and hugged her. "We're like sisters now." I could feel her forcing me away, but I wasn't about to give up. Not with a brother like THAT. We were gonna have to get along.
He smiled and nodded, then hugged his sister once more and left.
"He has a girlfriend." The monster said, glaring at me. "Besides, shouldn't you be saving yourself for your grandpa?"
I smacked her once in the back of the head, then plopped down on the couch. I was so angry. He was gorgeous. They best looking guy I'd ever seen in my life. Even better than Uncle Tom. I had to have him. And I knew just the way to get to him.
So, it's really different than anything I've ever written for Step Up 2. Hell, it's different than anything I've ever written in my life. But, I gave it a shot and I hope you like it. I gotta get some sleep.
