After a night on the town, I'd decided to take Elena to the very place I knew she wanted to be.
My little red Porsche was packed up and ready to go for summer break, and I knew just where we were going to spend it.
"Did you enjoy dinner?" I asked her once she was in the car. Her candy apple red heels were off of her feet the moment she entered it. The matching dress showed off her legs in a way that made my undead heart skip a beat. Around her neck was the necklace I'd given her, and there was a faint scent of some perfume that was nearly tangible with sweetness.
"I very much did," she replied, and lethargy was audible in her voice. "Where are you taking us?"
"You'll see," I replied. She'd asked me that near four times already.
I could see her smile from the corner of my eye, and I smirked. Tonight was going to be special.
I'd picked her up at seven, and we went to dinner at the only classy restaurant in this little town of Mystic Falls: Piacere Restaurante. After dinner, we'd gone to see the new exhibit in park that she'd been dying to view. It was a light show full of facts about the founding families.
The night ended in us right here.
I pulled into the nearly invisible path leading to the lake house, and Elena's eyes lit up.
"Stefan!" she smiled at me. "Why didn't you tell me we were going here? I'd have packed a swimming suit."
"I've packed everything you need this week," I said with a smile. "The night isn't over, Elena."
"Really?" she asked. Her smile laminated the car, and I returned hers with one of my own.
"Really," I answered.
The path was long, but when we eventually reached the house, I parked by the house.
She began to put her shoes on.
"No," I stopped her. "Stay right here. I'll take care of everything."
With vampiric speed, I grabbed the suitcases and ran them up to the room, and then returned.
I saw her sitting in the car and put my hand out to her.
She smiled and took it.
Within a flash, I picked her up bridal style and started walking humanly to the dock. Elena's shoes were in her lap.
"Stefan, what are you doing?" she laughed.
"You'll see," I replied. She was so beautiful, and in that moment, I kissed her.
Her caresses continued until we reached the dock, at which time I put her shoes on her, set her down, and plugged in an outlet, causing the dock to light up in white bulbs, illuminating the pathway.
She laughed in surprise.
I turned on the CD player that I had plugged up, too. Extension cords made everything work.
"Miss Gilbert, may I have this dance?" I asked her as she grabbed my hand.
I escorted her to the dock.
…And we danced.
The night ended with a Fourth of July fireworks show out over the lake, and then going inside and showered each other in kisses and caresses until she fell asleep in my arms.
