Television Explodicus
"Ron! What did you do that for!"
Hermione had been sitting down, quietly watching TV; an action flick. It was the climax of the film where the villain was about to engage the hero in some impossible fight scene. She heard Ron shout something, she had been too absorbed (in her own sceptical way) in the far-fetched and frankly childish plot of the film to hear what it was, and quite unexpectedly and spectacularly, the television exploded.
"Hermione! Are you all right?" Ron tried to hug a, by now, very pale Hermione. However, he failed to notice that the lack of colour in her face was due to shock and anger at having the television suddenly explode, not because of a narrow escape from death as Ron perceived. Hermione pulled away from him, rather too aggressively for Ron's liking.
"Ron! You idiot! My parents are going to kill me!"
"I just saved your life! A little gratitude wouldn't go amiss!"
"What are you talking about Ronald? You blew up the television."
"But the man on that…that…thing was running at you screaming. He was going to attack you."
Hermione blinked. Then slowly, although she was still somewhat angry, she grinned and started to laugh. Ron stared dumbfounded as Hermione descended into near hysterics.
"Hermione…? Are you sure you're ok…?"
"Oh Ron," Hermione managed to say between laughter. "You are an idiot. The man you saw was on the television... He was never going to hurt me. What you saw was theending of a film." She began to explain the concept of TV to an increasingly red-eared Ron.
"Dad would love this," muttered Ron looking at the floor, desperately avoiding Hermione's eyes.
"And so will mine when he finds out his television has been reduced to this," she said, gesturing at the shards on the floor.
It was Ron's turn to laugh now. "Hermione. You are a witch and a bloody good one at that. Surely you can repair it."
The colour returned to Hermione's face and both of them started laughing. This was going to be an interesting holiday.
