Author's Notes: Just a little something that popped in my head. General spoilers for all the episodes with Angell in them, but mostly for "Pay Up". *When I first published this, I had written it quickly to get it out of my system. I've gone over it again, and made various tweaks and changes, especially to the last chapter. Hope you all enjoy the repost!*

She was born a little girl in a big, bad world.
She ran, with scabby knees and a dirty face-her brothers gave her both. She could fight as well as she could bat-her brothers taught her both.
She would run and run, as fast and far as she could. She dreamed of a different life, a different world. She listened to her father's stories, and knew she would follow him.
She grew, still with scabby knees and a dirty face. Went off to school, then the Academy. She could fight as well as she could shoot-her father made sure of it.
She thrived and she flew. The scabby knees had faded and her face was no longer covered in dirt. She could still fight and shoot and bat as well as the boys and men around her.
One day, she met a man who didn't mind that she could fight and shoot and bat as well as he could. She smiled bigger than she ever had before. Together, they flew.
It didn't matter the cases they caught, or the evil they saw. Together, they flew over it. With him, she could fly away from it.
One day, she flew too high.
